  • Cath - they don't get them to do a lot to be honest. A little jigsaw. draw a picture, stack some bricks. Weigh and measure them. I was a bit unimpressed. It was only a 4 piece lift up jigsaw. It makes me wonder how deprived some kids are if that is all they are expected to be able to do. No wonder some of them switch off so completely when they are not encouraged more as they get bigger.

I'm sure she will excel. :D

Weird how they are all different isn't it. DD2 is 28 months ( i think) july 08 birth. She is good with poop and if naked sits on potty but then pees on hall floor. She will not wee in the bath wants out then usually wees as you lift her to the toilet so she has some understanding but just not full control yet I think. DD1 is 4 and had a UTI last week, she has regressed PT wise to the extent that she is scared to wee in toilet or potty as it hurts so is holding back until bursting. I think the upheaval aroung house is affecting them TBH, they know a lady has bought our house and we are moving before santa comes but they have not seen new house yet and we have no intention of taking them there until move day. They got a bit upset that evil mummy packed away alot of their toys. It needed done though we have far far too much to shift and only a limited time to do it. I did leave out playdoh, blocks, books and pencils/colouring books/paper plus their cuddly toys for bed.

On that front DD1 has 2 birthday parties the same day (12 days before the move) at different play centers an hour apart. Each last 2.5 hours an the closest is 7 miles from us the other 9 miles. Of course that day had to be a Saturday so we will really be out the house from 9.30 until 4pm, doubt much will get done that day. The saturday before that OH informs me he has to work. Double time so equivilent to 20 hours work/wages so not to be sneezed at but I wish it was same day as the parties but oh well. I feel a bit of a spare part TBH because other than sit and direct i can't actually do much KWIM. So we have this Saturday/Sunday Saturdaymy mum coming over to clean oven for me help get kitchen non essentials packed up, Next Sunday as OH working. Next Sunday as party day for DD1 on the saturday then Saturday/Sunday then we move 4 days later. So really we have 6 days.:eek::eek:

I keep thinking we are OK time wise but other times I am totally shocked by how little time we have :rotfl: Evenings pretty much off the cards as OH goes to bed about 8.30 because up so early which leaves very very little time to do things once kidlettes in bed and doing stuff before bed means 2 pairs of little hands in boxes and making a pest of themselves.

Thanks for that Michelle, didn't know what to expect and really thought she would do more. i.e she attempts to draw shapes and can recognise basic ones and name them, can count to 12, have full conversations. I think she may be bored at her check up!!! (only thing she can't do is fall asleep in bed!!!

Lilac, my DD slightly younger than yours Sept 08. I am not rushing the potty training, i have a friend who has started her nearly 3 yo who has mastered it within days.

You do have a lot to do before the move in little time but I am sure with all hands on deck you'll get it done! If you don't manage it am sure your buyers would gladly help you out! We picked up our keys only to find the previous owners hoovering the house with a massive removal van on the drive! Seems that the house wasn't ours even with the keys in our hand!

I'm up at stupid o'clock again, as those who have me on FB will testify as I am currently tending to my virtual farm :).

I have been thinking about a mini challenge for 2011. Finding enough 'additional' income from places like d00y00, BP, survey sites, clicks, matched betting, cashback places and mystery shops plus others etc to make gift/treat buying in 2011 cost neutral or as close to it as possible with any surplus in December 2011 then sliced off mortgage too. I guesstiamte that between birthdays and christmas we must spend about £600 on gifts and now with DD1 being at nursery she has little school friends too so we are finding that with those birthday parties the cost is only increasing plus Chrismas 2011 will have another baby to get for :).

I think I will aim for 2011 in 2011 which is roughly £168 a month. My theory, baring in mind I concocted this fantastic plan at 4am, is gifts/treats will be no more than 1k at the very very very most and even then thats allowing for a large spend on something like a climbing frame for garden. That will allow over 1k surplus to then come off mortgage (plus money in budget earmarked for pressies). At first i thought £2011 seemed alot of cash/vouchers but really it isn't that far fetched. The daily clicks guide claims £600 a year to be had from clicks alone, then there is cashback sites, home insurance, car insurance an a utilities switch can net you another £200 quite easily, more if you switch mobile contract/provider as they often £100+ so you would almost be half way there. :)

Does anyone have an opinion either way?

I don't think it's unrealisitic as long as you keep on top of surveys etc and it stops you becoming lax with them, i'e i don't remember the last time i checked you.gov!

    I think it's definitely worth a shot!

I do think its possible well at least worth a crack. Surveys are funny things. I do them then seem to lose interest before I reach payout. PP payout is £25 and I have been at £19 since September and I just seem to let focus slip.

Theres not as many clicks about nowadays. I was doing them everyday but haven't since I came back off holiday in July. I'm still getting the money through for them though which is nice. I do swear by Onepoll though, its part of my everyday life. I'm on my way to my 3rd £40 and OH on his 2nd.

1k for gifts and treats ? Who is that for..everyone or just the children?
I can't be bothered updating this anymore

Everyone Iris. Guessing 3 kids £150 each christmas and birthdays , £300 for some sort of activity play frame and that leaves £250 for me/oh parents, inlaws and siblings birthdays and christmas and kids friends birthdays/christmases.

I do not get on very well with my HV, She says DD2 is 'failing to thrive' She can run, jump, climb, shout, eat loads, count, knows colours and shapes, talk obviously but potty training a bit hit and miss and basically everything right on 'time' but because she is small, and she is small she is 'failing to thrive' well f 0ff to that one.

DD1 was failure to thrive as a baby. She's now 8 and wearing size 11-12 clothes. Codswallop.

My Christmas spend will be probably a 10th of that if I can manage it LP.

I'm going to sit and make a list right now of what I can make, and what I need to spend... But time to get more jewellery under my belt for gifts I think. I'm wearing a piece of mine today in the hope it'll draw attention.. shameless self advertising!

So, how long do you spend a day doing surveys LP? I'm keen to start making cash...!
