thinking of doing soa for when moved. Anyone know how to guestimate gas and electricity consumption for a 3 bed semi or B&C insurance? would it be just a case of getting some quotes?

  • I wish we had gone for professional movers rather than the ILs when we moved. My MIL just unpacked all the toiletries we owned onto the bathroom windowsill, and it took me so long to get how we wanted to be compared to just if they had left stuff in a box. I don't want to move ever again seriously.

New bills - i don't think it would be that out of order to ask the people you are buying from. Or, if your dad is cheeky enough he could ask his new/old mate your new next door neighbour. :p

Trying to keep a low profile. The sellers have a big american style stainless steel fridge freezer and when we viewed she said they were seriously considering leaving it because new place has it all integrated etc. I now don't want to annoy so leaving it until missives concluded. I really am paranoid about mortgage and nobody can tell me it will be prefect and no stress so i am now thinking the worse senarios.

Thanks for that Sarah. I'm £59 combined at the moment but on a 2 bed 1900's flat and we also in credit a touch hence it being lower. I think if I put £100 combined on the budget for utilities we will be ok.

Which bit are you waiting to hear about, your mortgage or if your offer has been accepted? Confused dot com.

Kimmy- scottish system so what happens is buyer offers seller accepts then when mortgage decision is given IE that you are actually getting the fnds solicitor signs missives and the house it yours. you then get entry date etc and all done. As soon as the seller accepts an offer the place is off the market so even before missives signed you can't be gazzumped or gazundered.

In our senario we have accepted offer from our buyer and on the strenght of that and our AiP offered on the other which has also been accepted. So Now I need my buyers mortgage offer through and confirmed so they sign missives with us and I need to get our mortgage offer thru as well so I can sign missives with our sellers. Our AiP was an automatic accept so hoping smooth sailing but who knows :)

Right B&C quotes. I just had a look at axa who is our current provider here, 16.88 a month or £184.62 a year. That is slightly less than we are paying now. I was under the impression that as the new place was bigger and more expensive that it would of been more expensive to insure.
