Hi, this might only apply to like a 10% of people who read this but its a money saving tip. My fiance is a manager at boots factory in nottingham, 2 dates before christmas they have a double discount day with also 3 for 2 on. This means off boots products you get 50% off and off everything else 25%, while also getting 3 for 2!!! we bought everything including cards, trests for ourselves and xmas presents for next year!!! Its a real money saver as at the checkout all our shopping was £476, swiped the discount card and came down to £187!!!! AMAZING!!!! (thank god as i only had 200pound in my account!!!) so ring around and find anyone who works in boots and befriend them!! you cant abuse it though but as long as the employee or their partner has the cash/card you wont get questioned!?? hope this saves someone save money xxx

Be very careful with this as the Boots employee can actually get the sack for misuse of double discount. I work for the George side of Asda and we have double discount and personally I wouldnt risk losing my job for using my discount on other people, but thats just me.

    I have hit a wall.

I cannot find one tiny bit of motivation to get anything done, im spending ages thinking and planning stuff but when it comes to doing it, i just sit there staring at the task's in front of me.

Im not making xmas cards this year, im gonna make the tea bag holders that are on the crafting thread instead, much more fitting for my family as they are all massive tea drinkers.

I just need to find some envelopes to put them in.

But my xmas card blanks wont go to waste as i have my DD's christening invites to make.

I reckon your lil bro definitely and absolutely deserves a bottle.

If you are feeling cheeky enough, why not write a lovely letter to the Marketing Director of Grey Goose and let him know that more than anything you would really love to be able to buy a bottle for your brother when he returns from active service in Afghanistan this Christmas as it is his very favourite drink, but explain that your budget is really tight. Then ask if he could possibly be so kind, under the circumstances, to send you a money-off coupon to help you out. Tug his heart strings :)

The Marketing Director is Sven-Olaf Hansen, and you can write to him care of Grey Goose's Marketing and PR company : Treehouse Marketing & PR, 58 Queen Anne Street, London W1G 8HW.

Awwww!!!! Did you do it??? How did you get on? I think you should, nothing is gained without being a bit cheeky. ;)

Yes i posted a letter of f, spend ages making it look nice and not a bog standard begging letter, havent heard anything back yet, although i run downstairs every morning to see if something has come back, even a thanks but no thanks would be nice, at least it will stop me wondering.

Just bought a bulk lot of tattoos to use in the tea bag holders for the kids at my DS's school instead of xmas cards.

Was thinking about after 8 mints for the adult ones as well.

I went to London and I saw THIS and thought of you
and I went to the Tower of London gift shop so my souvenir was a Christmas Tree Bauble...there's method in my 'madness' - souvenirs for the tree come out once a year but then are tidied away for the rest of the year so I don't get bored and fed up of them!

I don't believe it! I joined up today as part of my plan to get ahead of myself for once this Christmas - and I come across this thread! I'll be reading it from start to finish now so there goes the afternoon.

The thing is my family is male dominated. I've got three sons, two brothers, a father, husband and man friend to buy for and it's not easy for a girlie to think what they all like. So instead of wandering aimlessley around town I've decided to brave some online shopping this year. Hence the early start to make sure I don't do it in a panic.

I've got the hang of Google and already found a great Christmas gifts for men website though I don't think I can link to it being a new member.

So that's given me loads gift of ideas already - so this year it might be easy! Anyway, I'll read the thread and then do some more Googling and will report back if I find other good sites.

Well I have been out today and have brought

25 blank cards for card making
    some purple ribbon
    some white ribbon
a small photo album to decorate for my nan (figure I might make her a little nanny basket instead of a pamper one)

so i have a few bits to be getting on with
    Time to find me again
