i have just finished cutting up some of the kids old fleeces to try my hand at no sew blankets and although the 1st side i tied up looked a bit weird because i couldnt get the knots right, a quick look at youtube and i managed to do it. the other 3 sides look quite good!
even dh was impressed and he doesnt really get this homemade malarky, like last year i showed him my snowman soups and he said 'it looks good, but why not just give people a full tub of hot choc, a bag of marshmallows and choc chips and a box of candy canes' apparently they'd aprieciate it more!
pah! the recipeints loved them and i made a good sum selling them too!
anyhoo, i think im going to make my 2 kids one each to go in their xmas eve hampers, possibly my 2 nannas too. and maybe if im bored in the run up to xmas (because im super organised and plan to have it all done by end of oct!) i may do some for my 3 movie hampers aswell!
oh and im thinking of doing my mum and stepdad a 'night in' hamper so ill do one for them too! god eveyones going to have one lol!0 -
meant to say, i also cant believe how easy and quick they are to make!0

Hi, this might only apply to like a 10% of people who read this but its a money saving tip. My fiance is a manager at boots factory in nottingham, 2 dates before christmas they have a double discount day with also 3 for 2 on. This means off boots products you get 50% off and off everything else 25%, while also getting 3 for 2!!! we bought everything including cards,trests for ourselves and xmas presents for next year!!! Its a real money saver as at the checkout all our shopping was £476, swiped the discount card and came down to £187!!!! AMAZING!!!! (thank god as i only had 200pound in my account!!!) so ring around and find anyone who works in boots and befriend them!! you cant abuse it though but as long as the employee or their partner has the cash/card you wont get questioned!?? hope this saves someone save money xxx0

He's learning, I guess...
My local wh smith has tons and tons of xmas stock for next to nothing at the moment i got 8 rolls of luxury wrapping paper for 25p a roll,some bows and ribbon for 50p( a big box) some gold star stuff,white snow spray,all for around 25p or 50p, but my biggest deal was the cards that were saying £4.99 on the box and i go them for 99p!!
Would check out any wmiths that are in your area:D:j:j:j0 -
Just finished my youngest daughters sock monkey, and I must say, I am very impressed with it. The wife is also very impressed and is now hinting for one of her own. So 2 more to make then.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

For cards - the card factory had a big bin of old cards from last year that they were selling cheaply - some are cheap looking cards but I found last year a little bit of pritt stick and glitter soon spruces them up and makes them look a bit better.

welcome to the thread - hope you enjoy it here - we are all Xmas nutters and very friendly. I'm sure you will find lots of ideas for making Christmas special within your budget - how many people are you buying for?
Well my budget this month is £0boyfriend wages got cut because he was in hsopital - hes back to work now thankfully - but we are on a tight as a ducks bum budget this month so not spending anything that I don't need to. As I have about £7 to my name to last me until the 1st of September. Boyfriend is paid on Monday I think but not sure how big his overdraft is. He gives me £260 for the rent each month and then the rest is his but he pays car/insurance/tax/petrol/maintenance for other son etc and I pay the rest.
Although of that £260 - £235 is meant to be rent and £20 for his mobile bill but I already put that money away each month in case it goes early so I end up with £25then in my pocket or spare in my account. Think I might put it aside though in my Christmas savings plus he owes me another £20 that he nicked of r petrol so that's Ben's camera paid for. Really must make a start on Ben soon! once hes back to school i think.
So this month is
* card making
* cross stitch
* rag garlands
and keeping eyes open for extra shifts in work for once Ben is back in school.
and oh my god its bloody freezing this morning!
*Time to find me again0 -

i'm not actually yorkshire...but I've lived here for 22 years....BUT my mum is from Leeds - and 3/4 of my grandparents were!
Apparently most traditional with a cheese like Wensleydale....but I don't like cheese me!:D:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
