Any idea what the best board games are that an 8 year old and a 5 year old could play??
......
I'm thinking along the lines of a children's trivial pursuit - maybe the Disney one.
Possibly monopoly
Possibly Staying Alive
Disney Trivial Pursuit is blinking hard!! lol It's for proper die hard disney fans if you ask me. lol But there's junior monopoly, junior cluedo...but saying that, when I was that age, I think I just played old board games my parents already had. Monopoly is relatively simple when you come down to it (especially if you play it a little less cut throat and with a time limit) and Cluedo can be too. Oooooooooooo - CLuedo Mysteries is great. it's simpler than normal cluedo, and I'd assume slightly harder than junior (but Junior is one of the few I haven't got so I'm only guessing.). Cluedo Mysteries is exactly the same format as a game that was around when I was younger called "Mysteries of Old Peking" and it was great to play with my parents and little brother while Cluedo was still too hard for him.
Game of Life is good too (original - the Simpsons one is fab, but it's a bit more complicated than the original). We also used to play lots of cards, scrabble (upwords is a good variation too), children's trivial pursuit (well, ok, it was a family edition but had children's questions in there), and more 'less classic' games such as Labyrinth (my mum especially loved this one - it's based around trying to find routes to hidden treasure), Enchanted forest (memory game, again trying to find treasure)..... You might be able to find some of these latter ones on ebay or charity shops like dori2o suggested.
I hope this helps??
(You have no idea how long this post COULD have been. lol)

when does everyone start making their christmas cakes? I usually do mine end of october, then spend the 7 or 8 weeks leading up to xmas injecting it with all sorts of alcohol!!

I make mine in September and 'feed' it with brandy every week! Actually I make 3, the proper xmas one and one each for DD &OH and one for me & OH. I've been collecting the ingredients for a while now. And who mentioned mincepies?? I love them and want one right now!!:rotfl:0 -

sammy what about operation? we used to love that as kids - you can also get the play doh version now too
speaking of christmas puds dh told me last night that his parents love it. fil even eats his with cheese (thats not right surely?!?)
they are really hard to buy something ersonal for (dh usually gives them money, which i hate) so im thinking of making one for them. so if they end up with money again at least theyll have a little 'present' too.
i have no idea how to do this though! so the afternoon will be spent searching recipes online i think!0 -
