Hello everyone, does anyone know where I could buy some reasonably priced x-mas tree lights, that are white/clear and twinkle gently as opposed to flashing manically?lol
I want slow twinkling instead of disco fever!Am I being too fussy?

i got some nice ones from wilkinsons last year. they have 7 (i think) different settings so they can twinkle however you like.

Hiya, I was hoping someone could please help me. I dont know if this is in the right place but I dont think there would be a right place for this on the site as its nothing to do with money saving, but Ive noticed alot of you make christmas cakes so hopefully someone can help me! My MIL has made us a christmas cake, and althrough I LOVE christmas cake and icing, I hate marzipan, and it is usually a messy business, so I was wondering if there was anyway to ice a cake without marzipan? or if I am better off leaving it uniced?? Thanks!!

If you hate marzipan, just miss it off. You can just put a thicker layer of icing on to cover the dark colour of cake showing through. You will still need to put a bit of sieved jam on the top of the cake to make it 'stick' better, also turn the cake upside down and then the surface will be smooth so the icing will look smooth too. :D

You're not being fussy at all. Lights that flash really fast give me a headache!:o So do those very 'blue' white lights:p

Getting organized and thrifty for christmas 2010!
  • finally my tax credits have been sorted out :jso i can shop again!

today i have bought a take that cd for my dh - only need to get an issue of his mag (will have enough tesco points for the subscription in feb, so dont mind buying a couple of issues) then he's done.

well i say done i might also get him the babyliss i-trim, but im undecided yet. dont know if its a gimmicky piece of tat or if its any good:rolleyes:. will have to check reviews on line.

got a jumper for stepdad £20 from burtons but had 20%off so only £16

got my nanna a jumper £15 which i will be giving her early as we are going to an xmas party and she was after a top with a bit of sparkle to match some trousers i bought her earlier in the year to wear. she never buys herself clothes so i think giving her it early will be nice for her, also she might even remember what i bought her - shes 84 and tends to forget ;)

put together my dads photobbok last night and it was £21.56 but saved it to pay for it this morning. when i logged on again today they have 50% off photobooks! so it cost me £14.77 including delivery! so very happy with that:D

just need to get my mum some earrings and maybe a nice top or something, unsure as yet and im finished! :T

met up with my friend today who has just come back from a holiday in disneyland florida. i asked her to bring me back a toy for my xmas tree and she gave me a beauty and the beast hanging toy - which is beautiful and has taken pride of place on my tree THANK YOU CLAIRE :D

she also brought me back some blue pjs bottoms with santa all over them, im sat in them now and they are very comfy! LOVE YOU CLAIRE :p

did a present swap with another friend today and ive realised just how close it really is! the kids are really excited!

Not dumb at all - you sieve whatever jam you intend to use (apricot is the traditional one, but I use whatever I've got - have even used honey in the past) to get rid of the 'bits' so you end up with a very smooth syrup like consistancy. You don't need to use a lot, just a very thin coating.:D
