I have sent them to those who pm'd me.

I have also made some reindeer food one's.

I hate this part of being pregnant - total imsomnia - im sure its preparing me for all those sleepless nights but hey ho at least i get to google loads of xmas stuff.

I am xmas mad at the minute.

I have found a free printable template so i can sit with the kids and cut out bags for the reindeer food, i know i can by them cheaply enough but i wanted a particular type of bag and they were to expensive so as we have some time we will make them ourselves. They see, simple enough to do. Google paper bag template and click on images and there are loads to choose from. I am just going to add oats and some sugar sprinkle's to make it animal friendly.

I am struggling with ideas for presents at the minute so i seem to be focusing on jokey - memorable gifts as little homemade extra's.

All this cristmas preparation is making me really impatient about my little girl arriving. There is loads i want to do for xmas like framed hand and footprints which i cant do until she is here.

I got a teeny bit annoyed earlier that none of the shops had anything christmassy in yet, not even a bit of tinsel lol. I must be mental.

I dont know if it is still there but when i lived in york there was a shop that was 365 days a year full of xmas stuff. It was great.

I got organised about ten years ago. Agreed with friends and family that we would no longer exchange presents. It takes all the stress out of xmas :-)

I would still buy them something - just cos they want to be boring doesnt mean my xmas build up and enjoyment at buying pressies should be ruined. Even if it was only something little.

An old teacher of mine - didnt do xmas, he hated the whole comercialism of it all, so when it came to xmas he made a big donation to charity on everyone's behalf instead of buying people presents and said that he didnt want any presents of people but he couldnt stop them, so he would prefer it if they also made a donation to a specific charity on his behalf. I thought this was a very selfless thing to do.

Unfortunately i am not that selfless but i do a fair bit for charity in the run up to xmas like donating loads of pressies for kids.

If someone tells you they don't want a present - don't buy them a present. It's not kind - it's a mean way of saying "now you owe me something".

Please re-read the post you responded to.

    Christmas is one day!

I agree with the teacher you quoted. The whole thing is incredibly commercialised and has now become so far from what it was meant to be originally. You call it 'xmas' and you refer to gifts as 'pressies'. And you think people are 'boring' who deny you your 'enjoyment'. You'd like a shop to be full of Christmas goods in mid-July. We shall have it rammed down our throats soon enough, about next month probably, by which time some of us will still be thinking of going on holiday, seaside, sightseeing, enjoying what remains of the summer weather.

There are different celebration days throughout the year, some have fallen into disuse, some have become over-prominent just because a commercial opportunity has been seen. This, I believe, is all that Christmas means to many people now.

Presents should mean something, not be foisted on people who have made it crystal-clear that they don't want them 'even if it's something little'.

Have decided for my nieces that I might make them a night before Christmas hamper too, they are getting a joint main Xmas present as they share a bedroom adn it is all things that can go in their bedrooms, like name plaques, paint there own fairy/princess pictures etc but since they are 4 and 2 at christmas i thought a nice night before Xmas hamper would be nice. My sister is a single mum to them both so know she wouldn't think about things like that just rather getting her girls sorted.

Thinking I might include in it.

A pair of new PJs each
A packet of shortbread biscuits (some to be left for santa as i know they are my sisters favourite)
Maybe a special Santa plate + cup to leave for him
    Some hot chocolate sachets
Maybe a few pennies so they can get some milk and carrots.
    The Snowman on DVD
Santa Key cos they don't have a chimney
    Some reindeer food
    The night before Christmas book
    A Stocking each

Not sure what else i could put into it but instead of the packet of biscuits i was thinking about putting a cookie mix instead but like i said she's a single mum so not sure she'd have time to bake them before hand.
    Time to find me again

Thats a fab idea - I'm loving this thread!!! I have over half of my shopping done already - I'm always mooching around in the sales for gifts and we're off to Florida in Nov so any that I am missing I will get over there- people used to think I was mad but strangely these were friends who were child free at the ime since having children that are coming round to my way of thinking;)

I have all my cards and wrapping paper ready, last year I even got a second tree in Tesco for about £5 reduced from £50 in early dec:D in fact the other day I was tempted to start wrapping - or is that a bit too early:rolleyes:
