Well i finally got my bum into gear! And have spent the past few days reading off and on the thread about making hampers! And now im wanting to make loads! :T Already started a little bit! Cant wait to get more stuff and some baskets to put things in! Only thing is in our family the presents tend to be into the 50s per person! So not all going to fit in a basket, making beauty and grooming ones i think! maybe a football one each for the guys and something else for the women!
Everyone thinks im mad starting this early! All i keep saying is when Christmas gets nearer they'll all be running around in the ques as per usual trying to cram it all in!
No stress will there be for me! ..... i hope.
Also thinking of making some chocolates or something that you can eat, i usually just make biscuits but going to find the making things to eat thread! haha im sure there is one!

I'm loving the xmas eve hamper - we usually let the kids open 1 teeny present from under the tree on xmas eve but i would rather do this and spend some quality time with the kids getting them all christmassy all xmas eve instead of rushing round getting bits done (wont be rushing this year im organised for once), by giving the hamper on xmas eve morning.

    Think i will include:
    Pyjama's,
    Slipper socks,
    Dresing gowns,
    Xmas mugs,
    Gingerbread men,
    Santa stop here door hanger*,
    Personalised xmas stories*,
    Popcorn,
    Pringles,
    Xmas dvd,
    Drinks (for me and DF),
    Hot chocolate for the kids,
    Magic snow,
    Cookies*,
    Mince pies*,
    Santa hats - reindeer ears,
    Xmas cd*,
    reindeer food*,
    xmas colouring in pages*,
    crayons,
    candy canes or chocolate coins,
    personalised letter from santa,*
little bars of chocolate (with personalised labels on)*
xmas stockings with the kids names on for them to hang up just before they go to bed,
disposable camera - my DS loves taking photos and he gets really good ones that we wouldnt think of taking - would be nice to see his view of xmas as well as our own.

(*made by me or free online).

I think that is pretty much it.

I will but the cheap stockings taht are usually £1 each and sew the kids names on using scrap bits of felt and ribbon. I hope they turn out ok.

I bought the cheap stocking last year too, did the names of the kiddies on them using them glitter glue sticks out of the £1 shop, they came out really good. I did the Xmas eve hamper as well last year and will do it again this year, I included pretty much the same as you, but also did a name a star (for free) online

Gonna try making these this year for the kids as I bought them some last year (cost a fortune ones), seems simple enough

    Soap Crayons

    Supplies:

    One ice cube tray
    Liquid food color
2 tbsp. hot water for each crayon
    1 c. soap flakes
    Small bowl
    Spoon

    Directions:
For each color, put two tablespoons of hot water and one cup of soap flakes into a bowl.
Add as many drops of food color to the mixture as you wish. Stir the soap mixture until it thickens. This takes time, so be patient!
Press spoonfuls of the first color of soap into the sections of the ice tray.
Mix enough soap in other colors to fill the ice tray, following the above directions again.
Let the soap crayons dry for one or two days. Gently bang the ice tray to loosen the crayons.
Pack them in a box for gift-giving.

Maybe a silly question but does anyone know if Christmas cards are in the shops yet? Was thinking to make a start on those...

I don't think there's any in the shops yet but you'll be able to find lots online I'm sure

I was there a while ago ... the downstairs part is set out almost like a German Christmas market, with barrow stall thingamajiggys holding most of the decorations although there are plenty round the outside of the room ... it is a fabulous place to go visit if you are a big Christmas geek like moi!

I got some blown glass baubles (like sweeties), a gorgeous reindeer, some ballerinas, santa and snowmen for the tree (cos the 400+ baubles I have now are not enough ... *grins*.. so I keep saying every year, anyway! Just a good excuse to buy more!) ... won't say how much they cost, although I have to say they were cheaper in there than they are buying through Ebay! Much nicer too!
