  • Hi

I have been lurking for a while now and getting all your great ideas together, hope i can join in too.

Ive started getting bits for dd and have 4 nephews to buy for too and have already got 3 of them sorted so im quite pleased with myself as i usually leave everything till the last min!

A quick question though, im going to do a hamper on xmas eve for dd which i am just about sorted with but as mam comes and stays with us every year i thought about doing one for her too as we lost my dad last march this is the 2nd xmas without him so wanted to do something special for her but im stuck for ideas, i normally give her pjs as one of her presents so not sure what else to put in it?

Hi nomoney (and everyone - first post on this thread)! For your mum's hamper, how about:

    Bottle of wine
Special wine glass (handblown or decorated or something?)
If she doesn't drink wine nice mug, and luxury hot choccie or luxury coffee
    Bath bubbles
    Festive coloured nail polish
Magazine (bought nearer the time, obviously)
    Festive cookies
Some kind of face or hair treatment
Hot water bottle with Xmas cover
    Xmas socks
    Xmas DVD
    Slippers

Depends what kind of age she is (mentally, rather than physically) - my mum wouldn't go for the nail polish or the DVD but I know plenty who would. Can't think of anything else at the moment, if I do will post again.
  • oh thanks for them, she likes a Baileys on xmas eve and ive seen those ones before in the glass with the miniature bottle, also she likes her magazines too, oh thanks for those im all excited now cant wait to start it! :D

finally felt christmassy over the past couple of weeks, get my mum's nighties and slippers both ea with 20% off and thought if i give them £10 each on their hampers going to get them a sat nav for their joint present! thought i may get it off tesco and get clubcard points unless i can find a cheaper one elsewhere. dads hamper going to be a mixture of things:
pencils - for his toolbox always moaning he has none
    pens
    diary
    a beer glass maybe
    socks
and i havent brought him a tie in years so may find a jokey one.

for country and western could you not get some films?

Hi Jemtom dont know which satnav your looking for but I bought one for my OH birthday and got it from ebuyer was a Myguide one so very reasonable, we took it to Spain with us on our holiday and it was a great help.

    Hi guys,

This thread is brilliant! Since I've started reading it has motivated me into starting much earlier on buying Christmas presents than I would normally do, giving me more time to get the bargains, and longer to think what to get everyone, which is very useful for the 'problem' people I have to buy for. Thanks for the motivation! :T

    So far I've got...

Mum: large candle she specifically asked for, metallic car disc for new car (half price as bought over Ebay, not £10 in the shops). She wants some v expensive hand/body lotion as well. Am doing my best to see the best price I can get for it.

Brother: Top Gear related T Shirt (half price due to special offer); not yet sure what else to get him.

Friend 1: beautiful, high-quality, large scrapbook fora bargainous £3.99. (Can't believe that one!)

Also...birthday/Christmas present for a friend who has her birthday in December. This friend can be tricky to buy for, and it was only £7.98 so it's nice to know I'm one down.

    Present plans:

Goddaughter: VTech My First Laptop ~£20. I hear it's really good and educational. I would sooner get her that than some toy she'll play with for 5 mins, then get bored of. I can't believe you can buy (admittedly small and limited) computers for that much nowadays!

    No More Buying Books: ???

I actually bought mine in store yesterday and its fine. I wouldn't pay more than £4.49 but its ok - bit of a laugh. Its just a book full of "wheres wally" type drawings where you have to find the stig. No words - just pictures.

Thanks for that. Off to tesco website now :)

Can i ask another question? What is B&M (shop?) some of you are talking about?
    Thanks
  • B&M is a shop that sells all sorts including food, gifts, housey stuff and toys. They used to be only in the Blackpool area but in the last few years have expanded all over.
