I saw my first ladybird today........just the one.....hanging on for dear life as we shot down the A50 ! I think we dropped it off near Donnington!
Perhaps it wants to take a flight to wherever the rest of em are this year?
Just had my cuppa and looking forward to the fairy cakes me n dd2 made earlier! OH says i have little toms - AT LAST! - in the greenhouse,Yay!:j2009 - Attempting to grow my own Kitchen garden.....did it!!!

Calley....just go outside anyway. The bird will just move. We've had 5 fledgling blackbirds and various other breeds in the garden this year and they just move around to where they feel safe. The parents will always find them. We had weeks of them in the garden and I couldn't confine everyone to the house.
Talking of wildlife, our hedgehog appeared back last night looking for dog food at the back door.
Have been in and out of the garden all day. All my seeds for next year are coming through including the Delphinium, Echinacea, and Silene. I cut down the Delphinium in the border today and cut back the hardy geranium in the hope of getting a second flush of flowers.
Veg wise we had fresh peas and mange tout in a salad last night and some more strawbs. Peppers are growing by the day but the toms are still just a mass of yellow flowers.
It rained heavily yesterday and has showered today so I would like the sun back now please before my poor windowboxes get any more battered.
oh... and at this time on a Saturday night.....mine's a large G&T. :beer:0 -
Well I'll gladly sit down for a coffee
.
Just drove back from Cornwall today, had a good run but still 6 hours to the north west.
Was straight out to the garden and can't believe how much things have grown!!!!
Dad came in to water for me and has done a good job
The pumpkins and courgettes have turned into triffids lol. Suddenly all the beans and peas are full of pods. Kids ran out with me and gobbled up handfuls of strawberries. We also tried the first baby peas yummmy.
I struggled last year with lettuces going to seed and even though I moved them to a bed closer to the house one has still gone.
Does anyone have any way of using this to eat, seems a shame to compost. Wonder if I could cook it as a base for a soup??

Hi Alibobsy :hello:
If you google lettuce soup you will find lots of recipes. I make it all the time with salad bags reduced to clear in the supermarket.0 -
I am so pleased that this thread is so popular :A Good job I have a big tea pot
Haribo, large G&T coming right up

DH has cut back our yew tree (following a complaint from the postie  ). We've done lots of watering; rain is forecast later in the week :j:jWe've been picking more peas, strawberries and raspberries. The Morello cherry crop is huge, and they're just starting to ripen :T

We've just started a thread where people chat about what they're doing in the garden, so I'll add your post to that
Would you like tea, coffee, or something stronger

Today I've been ripping up another section of out drive (pink chips & compacted soil  ) and sealing all the nooks and crannies in our chicken-house-to be.
I love the idea of horse-tail potion, it'll give decapitating the damn things a purpose!
Today I have also discovered that if a mushroom growing kit says 'pour a pint of water into the bag' it is worth checking if the bag has holes in it...
Anyone want a strawberry-lime cider? Tastes like Cresta, for those of you old enough to remember the polar bear in sunglasses! :beer:0
