I've got 10 plants in there but there's not very much space between them which is why I was a bit worried.

I'll get bigger canes, I did think mine were a bit too small. :)

Just wondering can anyone tell me what height of canes I should be looking at to support peas and runner beans? I've got 1.2m one in just now but I'm thinking they might be too small? Also how many pea plants can I have in this tub?
Get as tall canes as you can for runners.

Peas, depends which variety you have planted, some get 7 ft tall, some are really small and self supporting.

You can really squash peas in, as long as you keep them watered. One every 2 inches isn't unfeasable.

Thanks all. Btw I don't know what type of anything I've planted as they all came from a prize draw win and just said 'runner bean' or peas' etc on the labels.

Good job I'd still got some compost in, my gooseberry bush needed potting on and I managed to miss it out when I checked my pot's back in march,:o, so that's now potted on into a bigger pot, now I'm just waiting for the grass to dry off so I can mow the lawn.

  • Ahhh the wind yesterday has blown all my empty pots all over the garden and swayed my fragile young plants to within an inch of their lives!! It almost claimed the life of my single flowered peony - note to self must stake it - the flower is so heavy. Was glad for the rain though for the garden. This weather is much more suitable for actually getting something done in the garden rather than just sitting in it...planted up both my £1.99 tree peonies yesterday, really struggling for space for stuff now :rotfl:
Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!

I've just been out having a look see at my pepper pots. Or rather the pots I planted the pepper seeds in that now look empty. Should they have done something by now? They were planted about a fortnight ago I think.

My potatoes don't seem to be doing anything either.

However the beetroot is doing well. Typical, I planted it for OH ....I don't even like the stuff. :D
