Been a pleasant day so went for a walk/run earlier - can't wait til the blackberry brambles in the countryside that starts at the end of the road start fruiting yum!! Multitasking!!

Pulled up a very deaded primula, scattered some viola seeds around, collected some free seeds from a promotion I had...so much more to do. Got lots of seeds ready to be planted out but it can wait til tomorrow.
Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!

It's been cold but dry here today. I've sown some more carrots - poor germination.
Popped a few more lettuce seeds in the coldframe and some more sunflowers and cosmos in the prop.

Hoping for a warmer day towards the end of the week to spend a day outside.

Have had to plant out most of my tomatoes today as despite sowing later than I normally do, they were just starting to look a little leggy. I've planted them deep and got them all protected under 5 litre mineral water bottle cloches and am keeping my fingers crossed that we have no more very cold or frosty nights.

Was furious to find that the slugs have eaten most of the sturdy little celeriac seedlings I planted out last week. They've never touched them in the past so I got complacent. Needless to say, have now put down slug pellets to protect the remainder.

Went away for three days over the Bank Holiday and can't believe how quickly the weeds have grown in the vegetable patch. I raked the whole area thoroughly the deay before we went away. Aaagh !

I have just had a quick scoot around the garden today, not a happy day another one of my acers do not look happy that's 2 so far other 2 still look fine ;(

Mixed salad which I planted thurs/fri (can't remember, must be my age) is sprouting through already ! Second lot of spring onions also doing well.

Nice day here in the midlands one dog is at present lying in the sun, the other in the shade, a much nicer day than yesterday.

That's a shame about your Acers. I've got just an "Osakazuki" which has been ok in a big pot surrounded by logs with flat stones on the surface in sheltered spot near a wall.

    Afternoon. :)

Went out earlier for the daily watering/slug check/opening of plastic greenhouse, had been out for 2 minutes and it started to pour! Typical had been dry up until then.

Something is definitely munching on my toms. :( More sticky stuff on high leaves and I saw a couple of small insects, mites maybe? I'll take a pic later, see if anyone can advise.

Jack's mummy - I have days like that, eventually try and make myself do something small, always easier when I've started.

I've been splitting dahlias. Some of mine were rubbish last year - I thought getting huge big clumps of tubers was good - it isn't hence the mamouth splitting. In the middle of potting them all up. Not sure how many will work so doing lots and I can give away if I have too many.

Also went around to a lady I met on freecycles garden which is just around the corner. We swapped a few plants and it is always inspiring to see somebody elses' garden - she has loads of fruit trees and bushes so now I want more.

Going to do another half hour now before starting tea.

So much for a dry and sunny forecast. Rain all day so I've still got a garden full of tree stumps, concrete steps and huge dead shrub roots and an almost empty skip.

Nothing to plant anything in bar more salad stuff and seedlings outgrowing the trays. Hoping for a dry day tomorrow.

Dogs got into my green house to day !! Thankfully never touch my plants but I did find the box of Fish blood and bone torn open half way down the garden with a tiny bit left in the bottom !!!!!!!!!

One of my Acre trees seems to be looking a bit healthier than it do a couple of days ago.
I didn't go to The Malverns this year, how ever I am looking forward to seeing my friend over the week end as she was going to pick me up 3 Hosta's which I ordered.

Last weekend we removed the horrid old trellis which divides our driveway with next doors, it was falling down. Not sure who is responsible as next door has been rented out for the whole 10 years we have been here and is empty at the moment so thought we'd do it. We now have some 75cm posts with wires so I have more space for another blackcurrent (to grow as a fan) and a few more raspberries.

Anyone tried growing raspberries at 45 degree angles?

Also finished tidying my strawberry bed
Emptied the tulips out of the front pots
Planted up one large pot with sweet peas
    repotted some herbs
cut the grass out the front plus next doors bit by the driveway
