I think s/he does. You wouldn't just sign up to a forum, randomly pick a thread and comment on it without even getting the full story. Hmmmm....Avon Rep as of 05/10/10

I just got a call from Sapphire Studios - apparently I've won a VIP makeover and photoshoot. I do enter this kind of comp sometimes so thought it was a good thing.
All sounded lovely until I asked about photos and found they weren't included.
Then she mentioned the booking fee.
Told them I'd have to think about it (especially as there are new rumours about redundancies at work, to be announced before the end of the year)
Having found this thread, I've thought about it and the answer is NOBest win ever: Trip to the Galapagos Islands in 20100 -
No I don't work for them. My mum was called with the same offer. I came on here to check out what it was about and saw all the comments. I was asking if they actually did anything wrong or are they just a bit pushy? I can handle a pushy sales person, if that's all it is. I must say though it's a bit shocking that unless i'm slagging them off i've got to be working for them. Just doing some research, sorry if I don't sit on here posting day and night. I have a job and better things to do with my time. Next time i'll check with you before posting if it's ok to do so.0

Hi everyone,
i had a bad experience with shappire studios too that i would like to share.
I paid the £49.99 deposit , i went for the photo shoot and decided that i didn't want to purchase any picture "very expensive" for my point of view the minimum was £45 for a pic.
Anyway i called the day after to get my deposit back, in the meant time i changed my bank and i wanted the deposit to be charged on another card because the account which i paid the deposit with had been closed, they said they couldn't, and they had to send the refund on the same card is been paid with! As we all know when an account is closed the refund bounces back straight away to the company that makes it, as my old bank confirmed to me the money never arrived in my old account!
Shappire said the 6Th time i called them that the refund never bounced back to them and they will investigate....and when they find where the money are they can then put them in my new account.
well this investigation is taking 2 months because they never got back to me since November 2009!!
But apparently they get back at people who makes complaints on web sites like this one, because they care about the reputation of the company...
good I'm still waiting for an answer then.

Hi, I went to Sapphire Studios with my mum and my 12 year old sister yesterday.
My mum won some free tickets although she couldn't remember how; she does do a lot of surveys online so we thought it was one of them. We had to leave a deposit of £100 and what they don't tell you is that you only get a 6x4 print which costs £45 + vat. Any other prints cost £95 per photo, even if you just want them put on a CD!
The preparation and photoshoot is great fun, it just the aftermath when the fast talking pushy salesman comes in that it all goes downhill. We chose 40 photos that we liked from our shoot, that's £4,000 worth of pics. We didn't know that we were picking the ones we wanted to buy, we thought that we were picking ones we liked to look at them again. The next thing we know we're being told that the 40 photos we chose were £95 a picture and that it was going to cost £4,000!
My mum and sister are registered disabled; which they don't cater for because the lift only goes up to the second floor and the make-up room is on the third!
The £100 deposit went towards the cost and the rest was financed with a 62% discount. So 40 photos cost £1400, £500 of which had to be paid upfront and the rest is now being paid off over 12 months on a credit agreement. We had never had anything like this done before and wanted to take something away but not this! He also took £10 from my mum's bank account but didn't say what that was for.
Is there anybody we can contact about this credit agreement? It's emptied my bank account (I'm a student, but there was no way I was letting my mum pay for it all herself) and landed my mum with another thing she has to deal with each month.
The salesman's attitude; "Well we need to make our money somehow".
It was a good day but with a massive sting in the tail.
I hope somebody can help. I feel awful because I convinced my mum to have it done because she doesn't get to feel special very often and now I've landed her with all this debt.:(

peachpixie - what a horrible end to the day for you.Try Trading Standards, as there should be some pull out clause you can use. Also, post on Praise, Vent and Warnings, and the consumer Rights boards on here - someone may be able to help. Actually, if it was me, I would go back to the store on Monday and have a word in someone's shell-like about browbeating and pressuring people who have now been put into serious financial debt due to their appalling selling techniques.
May also be worth saying that you are taking the issue up with Trading Standards, and certain well known consumer bodies.0 -
Thank you for your advice. I shall post it on the boards when I get back from uni.
We can't go back because I live in Wales and mum is in Swindon.
I shall definitely try my hardest to fix this.
Thank you0 -
