I have won a trip to studio 64 and have paid the deposit of £100. This is not because im stupid, this is because i have had a great experience before, when i went to doubletake studios. The trick is, to get back the deposit, what happened to me was, they so badly wanted to make some money out of me, they called me a month after the photo shoot and offered me a package deal of £75 for the whole cd! this was all 50 photos that i could print at my own leisure.

My advice is....go for it. As long as your strong enough on the day to walk away, they should call at some point! ill be waiting for my phone call!:money:
  • I've had two of these makeovers now, first was a company called Studio something lol i cant remember 64 is it? Anyway they did mine and my friend's hair really nicely and the make up was fab, they did the hard sell and we asked to think about it for a bit, at which point the slides of out photos were still on a projector for us to flip through. We both sneakily took pics of the screen on our mobiles and they looked really good! lol I printed mine it looks like a normal photo.

Anyway not to recommend that, would be rather embarassing to get caught! I was at uni at the time and a bit more carefree and skint! We didn't buy any photos at all, much to the annoyance of the sales woman, she didnt even try to reduce the prices as we ummed and ahh'd either.

What we did do though was take some really nice pics at home of us with our hair and make up done, and then go out for the night all glammed up. So that was worth it, just for a free make over (although they do use greasy stage make up an inch thick so- chances are you look like you are in drag when you go into natural light!!!)

I asked if i could wait until later in the day and invite my mam to see the pics, to see if she wanted to buy some (not really - i just wanted her to see too lol!) but sales woman insisted they would be disposed of immediately after we left :)

Next time i had a voucher for a free makeover AND free print from a magazine, to get at Olan mills. That was a much better experience, it was a smaller place and less time was spent on hair and stuff, but i got the free print and bought two more for £30 so I thought a tenner each was fair. I didnt buy the reprinting rights, but really who needs those ;) nudge nudge. Boots etc couldnt give a toss about who owns the photo or if you scan it you can order prints online for a few p each.
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'

    Morning All

[TEXT DELETED]. I know I worked for them and had first hand expierience in what was needed to be done. They ask you a deposit which you get back but the photos cost you like £1300 for 40 of them. So a very expensive day out. There staff as in me I use to work for them, dont even get notified when there wages will be late. And because I left them. They owe me 3 days wages and is refusing to pay me for it. So if they can do that to there staff. What will they do to you. Watch out!!!

Oh my god!!!! I just got a call from Studio 64 saying I won a makeover session. And after paying the deposit I decided to check up on them. So what can I say? I am terrified now after all the comments I've read. However I went straight to the cash point and checked if the money was taken out already - it wasn't. So I took all the money out that I had on my account to prevent them from doing any transactions. Hopefully they will call back enquiring about this incidence and then I can get rid of them. If not, I'll go over to have a nice day out and then demand for my deposit back :D. Hopefully it will work

Glad you had a look! [TEXT DELETED] I use to work for them so know what its all about!:j
  • lol had ours done last week.

Staff were all fantasic, and one lady even went out especially to go get some medication for my daughter for us

How to avoid the hard sell.... All the staff loved my kids (all 5 of them) EXCEPT the sales man. My stepdaughter had a asthma attck during the shoot (luckly we had bought her meds with us - we expected the London smog to affect her as its much worse than birmingham, and it was HOT that day) so by the time we got to see the photos (10 minutes after they were shot) we were plumped in a room while a computer caroselled the images.

The photographer was really nice, but the images lacked lighting in some places.

Anyways, my step daughters coughing caused the sales man to ask rather rudely "What the heck is up with that child" and suddenly met with a very sharp reply about her asthma and his horrible stuffy office we had been stuck in by ourselves for 20 minutes. We came away with 2 photos on a CD instead of 1 for our £95 deposit and he still couldnt get us out the door fast enough.

Its no skin off my nose, for the travel, deposit and everything else we spent on the day we got 2 images we can use how and when we liked, and we were after a propper framed large one that for the same price (inc travel etc) we could have got up here, but not been able to reproduce.

Found a really nice printer on line that has printed 1 photo to A1 size on glossy paper for £15 inc p&p and VAT

A few weeks ago I was stopped in the street and asked to enter 'a competition' to win a free makeover and photoshoot at Studio 64 in Farringdon, London.
This week I recieved a phonecall saying I had won a VIP photoshoot, which I thought would be a nice day out for me and my mum. The guy on the phone then proceeded to tell me they would need my card details in case I didn't show up. I gave them to him, fair enough I thought as I could understand it would cost them money if I didn't show. I then checked with him 'you aren't going to take any money straight away are you?' to which he replied 'oh you will get it refunded when you attend the appointment'. I asked again 4 more times if I would be charged straight away to which I got the same answer. He then tried to change the subject and started telling me what the package included and then told me that £99.98 had been taken from my account. When said that I didn't want to proceed as I couldn't afford the money straight away and I hadn't given him permission for it to be taken he said he couldn't help me and gave me a customer service number to call (no response so far!). The number on the leaflet is also now a taxi firm and I have not been able to get through to any other contact number.
This company took money without my permission - stay well clear. Wish I had checked on here first!!
  • errr i had about 12 missed calls off a weird num so notices it were a 0208 number so i rang it back and it was these people(i was luki enough to get the answermachine) . but i dont enter comps on the net!!! how av they got my number???? i only come on the net 4 facebook. i wouldnt fall 4 stuff like this anyway as soon as they'd mention money. THE OTHER PERSON HAS CLEARED lol
  • o and the number is 02089623507
  • I was rung today by studio 64 saying i had won a makeover and photo shoot which i do remember signing up for but they asked for my card details for a £35 deposit. i'm not sure if it is in london that id have to go to because thats the only reason i might not end up taking the offer. the problem is, after reading this, i dont know whether to trust it and i dont want to give my details over the phone but i dont see why the deposit is needed when they already know your address etc in order to send the bill if you dont turn up...it's bizarre. anyone know what i should do?

i've had 2 missed calls off of her today, and i know for a fact she'll want an answer but for travel, money etc, i cant afford it! and when you win something its free, not pay a deposit! but monique or whatever her name is, is rather pushy! im so glad im not going to be apart of the "compitition"
