I had this happen and I actually had a really good day out. They offered me 2 free places if I paid the £98 deposit after some negotiation on my part - so 4 of us went for my birthday. It was a really nice day out. We had our hair and make-up done and then had a great time in front of the camera. I cant remeber just how much we paid for the images in the end but we just got them on CD so we could print them ourselves as many times as needed.
The pictures we bought were really nice and we did get the deposit off of the final price.0 -
[TEXT DELETED]. Luckily I didnt have to make as much effort as the people who travelled down and paid for hotels as I work in London, but I 'won' and it was a nightmare from beginning to end. Firstly, their booking offices are manned by people who get your details wrong and have no idea what you're saying on the phone. Secondly, the day is a shambles; you get rushed through, some woman dragged GHDs through my hair while gossiping over her shoulder with the other 'stylists' before I was made bright orange and powdering with drag queen eye make-up by a moody make up girl. (This, hilariously, was evident in the photos where our hands were white but our faces tangerine). The photoshoot was similarly rushed, and the 'hard sell' was absolutely hideous. I can only describe it as bullying, the woman we got was aggressive and basically shouted me down when I declined to pay £700 for 10 photos on a disc. I cant believe the person who wrote on here that they made them cry still bought something!
The minute she got all high school bully on me, I was totally firm and demanded my refund. If you get tricked into this, go on the day, be clear from the start that you have no money to spend on this (It's a 'win' for Gods sake, they inflicted this on you!) and then politely but firmly refuse. it was easy for us because we're just out of uni and genuinely have no disposable income, but even if you have, lie. Just keep saying 'I was told when booking that it was no obligation to buy'. They can't deny this. Then get your refund and run!
Interestingly, the prices we were quoted were miles off what the other person on here listed - ours were £240 for two photos on a disk, £80 for an A4 print, £700 for 10 on a disk... she was totally making them up, and by the end she was offering us two prints for £100. What a horrific experience, I hope someone exposes them in the media.0 -
I had a call from them on Monday evening and politely declined giving them £49.99 deposit for my win...! They are rather persistant so be warned.. unless of course you want to spend the money and go and have your photo's done..and pay for them seperately of course....:mad:AFD - J 19 J 11 A 2 S 10 Oct 6 N 0/?

My Daughter & I Were Stopped Whilst Shopping In Aylesbury, Asked If She Would Like To Win A Prize!!, She Was Told About The Make-over, Champange, Hair Done, Clothes Etc, Etc.last Night Shereceived A Call From Monquie, Informing Her That She Had This Prize, Again Stressing The Hair-do, Clothes, And Slight Mention Of Having Photos Taken. But Since These Were The Last Two Tickets, She Would Have To Move Quickly, And Could My Daughter Give Her A Deposit Of £44.00, By Credit Card, Which She Would Get Back, The Minute We Went Through The Door, Alarm Bells Started Ringing, If This Is A Prize, Why Was She Being Asked To Pay. Thinking On Her Feet, My Daughter Asked If She Could Pay By Cheque, But This Was Not Possible Due To The Shortness Of Time, the Tickets Could Only Be Held Until Midday Today 20/7/07, Although They Were Valid For A Year.
My Daughter Then Gave Her A Card Number, Knowing That There Was No Money In The Account, For Them To Take, After Trying, Monquie
Said My Daughter Should Query This With Her Bank, And Should Would Call Her Back Today. My Daughter Then Called Me, And As She Does Not Have The Internet, I Said That I Would Search For Her, And Boy Am I Glad That I Did. Thank You To Those People That
Have Posted Before Me. I Am Just Glad That She Did Not Hand Of Any Details. As I Said Some Prize!!!!!
Ive had a call from monique she is very aggressive if you put the phone down on her and she will ring you back quite a few times ! I have also had quite v few dodgy phone calls too my mobile with a similiar sounding woman!2010 challenge A.B.C.D.[STRIKE]E.[/STRIKE]F.G.H.I.J.[STRIKE]K[/STRIKE].L.M.N.O.P.Q.[STRIKE]R[/STRIKE].S.T.U.V.W.X.Y.Z
Best of luck everyone!
I have also gone for platinum in the presents challenge.2/150 -
I had this too...
Not my thing as I know i'd get roped into spending cash, so I told them to give it to the person who won second prize, and tell em congrats from me!
Also, if someone you know goes to one of these things (maybe not studio64), some get offered that if they give out 5 (or more) of their friends mobile numbers, they get a discount on their thing they're doing that day
Steer clear is my advice0 -
I agree, a good laugh is the way foward!! Some people really need to open their eyes and see that a deposit is required to make sure you turn up, my deposit was refunded and actually I had a good time. The people above must only have their last £50 in their account, so I guess this is not for you then! And NO I don't work there either. But thanks for the response, some positive some negative and maybe one day you guys will understand what this day out is about. I also gave 10 numbers of friends that would be interested and they have booked too, my business involves something similar to this and deposit is always refundable, come on people we live in the UK, and always protected in that instant.
i was a bit worried about the deposit but have paid up and i am going in feb with a friend. cant wait. i know several people who have had a great time and got full refund on the day.0 -
I am very worry I just paid nearly £100 on deposit and I suppose to go on monday...I will be there right early...I am not thinking in buying any prints, as I just lost my job, so I just want to get it out of the way as soon as possible and get the money back. I actually told the guy I lost my job and this will be a good way to cheer me up...I suppose to have won a competition, but I cannot remember where it was...:(0

Thanks for all the helpful replies. My sister got a call from exposurephotographics in Covent Garden on Friday evening and they conviced her to book two places for £99.98. She was told that the money will be refunded in full. I went on the internet and after reading the horrible reviews, i called them up and nicely asked for a refund. The nice lady initially refused but when I insisted that i wanted the money back and I would personally make sure my sister didnt purchase any prints, she took my bank details and hung up before i could thank her for her time:rotfl:.0

Interesting mixed set of posts. Interesting mixture of responses also. I can't see much wrong with the deposit given that it is fully refundable. Question is whether the time is enjoyable when it comes to the point, or not! If not, then it is time badly spent. If enjoyable, then time well spent. The major problem seems to be the mixed experiences people have had and the reports of people being hassled and pressured with regard to paying for photos when on the spot. I have had the same offer and am looking at the net to find out more about the organisation before I decide whether I am interested or not. Given the number of reports of negative experiences I am coming down on the side of "not", but again those experiences do seem pretty mixed with many people saying it was an enjoyable day with good results.0
