Nice one ferf. And it would have been a hassle getting a refund and rebooking, probably at a higher price.

There's a lot to be said for booking with a carrier who has several options of getting you there.

I would prefare to fly, but the other-half thinks it would be good to see Desert, desert and more desert...during August! ... he's doing all the driving, i just need to arrange accomodation on route to Vegas(Doesnt seem to be be much choice ) ... Winery tour we may look into that, many thanks! :D
we did the Napa Valley Wine Train - was superb! - let me know if you want specific details / pictures :)

(also we drove from Vegas -> SF via. Death Valley / Yosemite) - it ain't the most exciting drive in the world but i'm glad i did it, as we stopped here and there, Yosemite was spectacular and loved staying in Death Valley --- hot spring fed pool! :) wicked! :)

a bit more info here (day 5 onwards):

interesting indeed! Many thanks for that - especially interesting to read about the exclusive Facebook / Twitter offers... i'm on Facebook so will definitely 'become a fan', but i'm not on Twitter - however it might be worth me joining up as it's always useful to have an new / different avenue for offers :)

Based on stoneman and duchy's comments and help with the AA platinum challenge, we made the decision to fly with AA our next trip with connections instead of doing our 'normal' open-jaw with Virgin ...
do you (or Stoneman, Duchy etc) know if you get 'points' per person, or per booking? i'm going to be booking flights to vegas for 5 of us soon (which is obviously a fair few miles)... could i claim points on behalf of everyone, or can it only be against your own ticket? this does interest me but i don't think we travel enough to do it :(

I'm pretty sure the points are awarded per person.

Unfortunately it's only the qpoints you earn yourself...as it happens, we'll just make the 10,000 points with our trip in September/October (ONLY because we somehow got flights in a fare class that earns 1 point per mile instead of .5 points per mile) so we figure it's worth me doing the challenge and see if it's worth it for my husband to do the challenge when my platinum status runs out...from what duchy told me it's a one-time thing, so makes more sense for only one of us to do it now and the other to do it later.

    Hey,

I am currently looking at 4/3/10 Dublin-LGW-LAS with Aerlingus-Virgin returning 12/3/10 with MGM Signature Jnr Suite booked for first 4 nights at £1060stg for 2 on expedia.co.uk :money:(less 5%quidco) and can you still get the nectar points or would this cancel the quidco cashback?

Am hoping to get good package for the V or Pallazzo for the 2nd 4 nights or maybe even the penthouse suite in Bellagio for 1/2 nights. Interesting to hear of earlier posters experience in Nov 09.

Should I book the above expedia deal asap flight element comes to 740ish for 2 of us which is good with the DUB-LGW added to the direct.

Getting it as a birthday 2/10/09 present for my girlfriend but I go on about Vegas so much I doubt she'll be surprised. :j

I got both quidco and nectar points on an expedia booking (non-Vegas hotels) before.

Yeah no probs will go through them all tomorrow and post them! :)

Is there many of us Vegas addicts that arent on fbook (I know Luci isnt)? Cos I was thinking would it be easier to set a group up on the book and add all the hotels etc onto this group?

I know some people dont like joining up to this sort of thing (I dont usually) so if people dont want me to do this its not a prob I will just post them on here.

I emailed NetFlights yesterday and they have just called me. I am raging.

They have now changed our flights yet again, even though I haven't been advised by email, and we are now going via Washington and don't arrive in LAS till 19.22. Looks like the concert is goosed.

It needs to be a major change of 4 hours or more before they would change to the day before or offer a refund. I asked if this was 4 hours from the original flights and was told that it's per flight, so they can keep changing it by 1-1.5 hours and even if it's more than 4 hours different to our original flights it won't count.

    I feel sick.
