Yep, it seems a strange coincidence that I already had that night booked and hadn't cancelled the reservation! Someone was looking after me.

That is such great news - having the schedule change made for you and already having that night booked at Bally's...and especially awesome that you snuck the hotel booking in there before the fight was announced. Sounds to me like it was destined to work out for you. :)
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Legends is now at Harah's. There is a 2 for 1 coupon in the American Casino Guide. If you are hiring a car, as I assume with many of your activities being off strip, it may be worth getting two books are there are 2 for 1 buffets at the Gold Coast and Orleans among other places.

I will have spare coupons for off strip places and will be happy to send them to you if you want. Have a look at the list of coupons HERE and let me know which ones you would like.

Also, be aware that the Pinball Hall of Fame is moving nearer the strip, but I'm not sure when.

New article on long hauling and taking the tunnel HERE

Interesting, and saddening, to read that the cab drivers who don't long haul risk losing their jobs by not earning the daily average which has been inflated by the less scrupulous ones who do.

I'm a Las Vegas virgin looking for help. I have read over 1,000 posts on this thread and the previous one, I have visited countless sites, and I am now completely overwhelmed and confused by too much information!!:confused:

My wife (an amazing woman!) has arranged for my 40th to be in Las Vegas.:j:j
I am meeting my best friend there. I haven't seen him for 5 years (except via Skype). He is travelling from Australia (he emigrated) and we will be there from 10th Jan to 17th Jan 2010. Flights are booked, but where should two guys stay? Probably best to go for a room/suite..... with twin beds!

As it is my 40th, I am looking for a little luxury on the strip, with lower level gambling, shows, fun and helicopter rides. I also want value for money! Looking at your previous posts Bellagio looks a bit over the top but MGM Grand appears to have everything and is in a good location?

You guys and girls have seen it and done it. I'm sure my wife isn't just trying to get me out of the house (;);)) but where is best to stay for this once in a lifetime trip for my friend and I?
Budget up to £750 for room for the week (for both of us).

I look forward to receiving your words of wisdom.
    Many thanks in advance.....:beer::beer:

Yeah no probs will go through them all tomorrow and post them! :)

Is there many of us Vegas addicts that arent on fbook (I know Luci isnt)? Cos I was thinking would it be easier to set a group up on the book and add all the hotels etc onto this group?

I know some people dont like joining up to this sort of thing (I dont usually) so if people dont want me to do this its not a prob I will just post them on here.

if you could post them here first and also post the link to Facebook group , so everyone gets a option .

Many thanks for doing this .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

Hi and welcome to the LV thread!

It depends what you mean by luxury. Even the average rooms in Vegas are luxury by Spanish standards so do you mean a nice room or a top end room?

Easy enough to get a room with 2 queen beds so you don't need to have a suite. A queen bed is the equivalent of our king size.

Far too early for hotel deals, but I would recommend booking something direct with the hotel so that you feel it's all booked and done. However start checking 3-4 months before travel for offers and keep checking right until you leave.

You will only pay one night's deposit which is refundable if you cancel 48-72 hours before arrival.

The MGM would be a good hotel for 2 guys. It's south strip, but easily accessible to the rest of the strip by walking, using the monorail or the Deuce.

I have just checked the convention calendar HERE and you just miss the CES show when rates will be high.

Keep an eye on https://www.smartervegas.com and the last few pages of Fat Wallet HERE However SV doesn't list certain properties.

When you find an offer your'e interested in, post here for advice on whether it's a good deal.

HERE is a site with photos of Vegas hotels rooms. See which ones take your fancy.

Most rooms are available with either one king or 2 queen beds.
