October , Novemberanyone know anywhere good and relatively close (walking) to mgm grand to stock up on water/diet coke etc for the room when we get there?
Probably CVS or Walgreens (whichever is on the east side of the strip) would be closest. There's an AM/PM petrol station right across from the entrance to Excalibur too (so on the east side of the strip), so would be over the bridge to Tropicana and then down to street level...may depend on where your room is located as to which is closer.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

October , Novembercvs? what does that stand for?
I don't know - it's just called CVS.It's kind of like Boots and a competitor to Walgreens.
OK, I had to look it up because now I wondered - Consumer Value Store...but the sign just has the initials.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
October , NovemberNo, but when you find out let us know.;) I don't know what it is with AA! United, Delta, Northwest (as was) all let you check in online when traveling international
Spoke to someone and from what she said she doesn't think you can use the self-service kisoks 24 hours before either (rereading the website it's hard to tell if the 24-hour thing is valid on flights from the UK) and they certainly won't keep your bags overnight...so...that's a big fat no.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
AugustCouple of days ago someone was asking about the Orleans
(Sorry to be slow doing loads of overtime pre-trip at the moment)
The Orleans is really nice if you don't mind been off Strip. Lots of facilities-pool is nice, lots of eating choices at better than Strip prices and the staff seem to try harder than I've experienced staying on Strip. Rooms are supposed to be "New Orleans" style-a little bit dated but clean and huge-all rooms have a seperate seating area. Always good deals there are they always price match if you find a better deal on another site (I'm paying $18 weekday rate this month) later on.
Forgot to say rooms come with coffeemakers and there is free wi-fi in the Seattle Coffee placeI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

AugustI got the oddest phonecall this week.
"Hello my name is XXX and I'm calling from the United States" I can only assume she was from Delta although she never said. She told me my flight was overbooked and would I like to fly back to Heathrow instead of Gatwick. I said I was happy to stick with what I had and she said goodbye. Straight after a confirmation of my flights appeared in email-showing a schedule change of 2 hours out of Vegas-from 9am to 7am UGH. (She hadn't mentioned this)
So-I called Delta back -turned out my flight was 65 people overbooked as DL are stopping using the Airbus from Atlanta. I decided if I couldn't fly on the only plane I can sleep on I might as well switch flights anyway so instead of leaving at 7am we're now leaving at 11pm and flying to New York arriving early morning then spending the day in New York and flying home early evening insteadGuess we'll sleep well New York to London !!!
I'm thinking of booking into the IP that day so we have a room right up until we leave as it's less than $20 and we're at the Flamingo the night before.
As I mentioned in the previous post my Orleans cost went down again. I have two comped nights with them for Saturday and Sunday which include $25 food credit and they price matched (again) for Monday night at $18 so allowing for the food credit they are actually paying us to stay there nowI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

October , NovemberThink Walgreens is on the right side of the road but we used both to buy a few bits for the room when we were at Signature as there nearly striaght over the road from each other. Whilst on the subject is there somewhere (again within walking distance) from MGM where we could buy some booze for the room so we can have a tipple whilst were getting ready?
I can't remember if AM/PM sells booze or not, they may do...maybe only beer/alcopops though. There is a little bottle shop next to Bill's (corner of Flamingo and Koval)...would be a bit of a hike, or you could take the monorail from MGM to Bally's, then walk out the door by the sports book on the pool/monorail level and it's pretty close to across the street from there.
Edited to add - the ABC Store in Miracle Mile shops at PH sells booze I think - not sure how the prices compare to the one near Bill's.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

October , NovemberThanks...Will have to try AM/PM first cos beers would be fine (were not to fussy when it comes to booze!) and if not the shop near Bills would prob be ok cos were stopping at the Signature again and the Monorail entrance is only a little walk from room so we will have to send the boys to stock up haha.

If you want to call AM/PM before setting out it's this one:

I honestly can't remember if they sell alcohol though most petrol stations in the US do.
I'm jealous that you're going in 6 weeks...even though we arrive in 8 weeks and 2 days.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
