JulyThanks stoneman.
I got an email from them asking if I wanted them to arrange airport transfers, but they didn't say they were complimentary.
They do have a "house car" which will take you anywhere within a 3 miles radius, but reading some reviews there seemed to be problems actually booking or getting it.
Yeah the house car can be used by any guest if its available at the time. Can't say that we ever saw it, though as we had the car we didn't pay much attention in all honesty.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -
SeptemberMany thanks for all the detail Claire.
Do you tip for the services at the pool, ie iced water, etc and if so, how much is appropriate?
What is a subtle way of asking for extra toiletries? I take it you need to get hold of the maid in the corridor?0 -
JulyCrikey!!! That's a rip off, so no complimentary valet then. Sounds like penny pinching to me, bit shallow for a hotel of their standing. And I was even going to phone them to see if they had complimentary limo from the airport:eek:
Arghhhhh i replied to this and then accidently deleted it
Yip it is indeed a rip off. Valet parking is complemetary anytime apart from overnight parking so you can make use of it during the day and evening and then park overnight at MB to avoid the charge. Bit of a faff but worth it imo.
We did make use of it last year though as I was on crutches so didn't have much choice. When we checked out though they didn't charge us for any of the 3 nights even though J mentioned it:rolleyes: I think the guy felt sorry for me and waived it:D:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -

Ended up getting a Petite Suite , which would have been $50 a night more than the Deluxe she had booked

Hi,
Out of interest where did you book the Treasure Island deal?0 -

Re tipping I have absolutely no idea is the honest answer. J is a great tipper and tipped the guy who showed us to our loungers the first morning. The guy looked surprised at the tip and then we noticed the rest of the morning that no-one else tipped a thingSo we're not sure if it was customary or not, but J tipped the same guy each morning anyway as he always chatted with him about home for a while and thought he was really nice.
The first time i just left a note with $5 asking for some extras before heading out for the evening, and came back to a massive bag of mixed toiletries:D On the last morning I saw the same maid in the hall and she asked if i needed anymore extras and promptly brought me another massive bag. I tipped her $5 again, although actually in hindsight i would have tipped her even more as the stuff costs me a fortune here when i can afford to treat myself. I got the impression I wasn't the first to have asked, and in fact got chatting to an american lady in reception our last day who told me stays here at least twice a year and always uses it as an excuse to stock up on L'occitane:o:rotfl:
Oh and i forgot to mention earlier they have coffee makers in the room, and the coffee is actually quite nice. If you drink as much of the stuff as i do don't forget to ask the maid to leave some extra. Also every time you valet park there, your car is returned to you with 2 ice cold bottles of water, which is handy given the cost of water in the hotel:eek::starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -

SeptemberThanks Claire. Will have to remember to leave a note. I take it the turn down service is automatic and you don't have to request it as you do at the Encore?
I did know about the coffee/tea as it will save us taking the travel kettle. I need my cuppa as soon as my eyes are open.0 -

Yeah, its automatic and they leave some godiva choccies for you as well:D
They also leave a paper outside your door every morning, think you were able to chose which one at check-in but can't remember the exact details.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -
October , NovemberI always make sure the maids get a tip. Of all the workers, they probably get paid the least and almost certainly get less tips as a rule.0
