Peppermill - as two people commented on the Peppermill thread - "a posher Dennys" - ie 2 steps up from McDonalds dollar menu instead of one. The only things going for it are the huge portions and its open 24hrs a day. Its location is such that you would never go near it unless you were either lost, staying in Circus Circus, or were waiting for the chea ticket place to open.

I think you're the first person I've seen who doesn't think the Peppermill to be cheap. The food is edible but I'd never dream of recommending it as a must-eat place, especially for someone staying at th other end of the strip!

Well, we quite enjoy the food as well as the atmosphere - it's the combo that makes it something I recommend to people. My in laws absolutely loved it...we've been all hours of the day and have always had great meals...I don't think it's cheap - it's not expensive, but it's not cheap either. I was probably one that referred to it as a posher Denny's but I wouldn't classify it as 2 steps up from McDonald's dollar menu either.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

with all the discussion about tripadvisor recently, I had to laugh when we finally got around to watching Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow from Saturday just now and recommend watching his intro...it was the Brighton episode and you can see it on BBC iplayer. :)

    Guys,

I should've mentioned the recommend a friend promo I used for booking our Vegas trip with Expedia which I found on hotukdeals.

    http://www.referafriend.expedia.co.uk/

Recommend a friend by email - they get a £20 discount code. Once the use it you get a discount code for £40.

I recommended Liz & booked under her name on Friday & I just got my £40 code through today.

I just did this but cannot find where t enter the code?

okay you won't get Gordon Ramsey type food , but a good breakfast does not need to be fancy for me . Give me nice place / atmos , good portions , good coffee good breakfasts and loads of choice at a reasonable price , and i say that as Money saving recommendation it is worth advising people about .

 The Bellagio buffet is a very high standard IMO , unless you eat at The Ivy or the Fat Duck every night .
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

We spent $40 on breakfast in the Peppermill so I wouldn't call it cheap - nothing wrong with the food there either, in fact it was pretty good. When was the last time you ate there, out of interest ?

I would certainly recommend people try it at least once to see for themselves.

Also, instead of just rubbishing other people's suggestions, why don't you be a bit more constructive and offer some recommendations yourself ?

I wouldn't presume to know peoples financial situation and therefore would never dream of suggesting either expensive places for a good breakfast or the cheap and cheerful buffets or Peppermill suggested.

I certainly also wouldn't suggest a place at the other end of the strip unless it really was special rather than a "pile it high" posh Dennys!

If it was all down to money saving then is everybody going to be advised to stay at Circus Circus?

It's funny, we all have our little places that we like, and sometimes we also know they're not that special. We went a couple of times to the Sahara Buffet (with 2/1 coupon from ACG), and we thought it was really ok. We used it as a stop on the way to the outlets on the monorail/taxi. It was fine for what we wanted along our way for breakfast. In saying that we would never have jumped on the bus and monorail and went there for dinner! We did though used to have a place we liked for dinner that really wouldn't be described as special by anyone else! We used to take 2 buses and go to Romano's Macaroni Grill opposite Palace Station. We really liked it, and then we'd go over to Palace Station for their comedy club which no longer exists. They were not really 'recommendable' but they were both things we liked to do each trip!

As far as money saving goes, it's not always about financial situations. Often the moneysavers save to have money left for other things, so it's not that we want to stay at Circus Circus for $25, more that we want to get an offer for somewhere mid range at less that the normal going rate. Or something high range at a mid-range sort of price.

So no harm in cheap suggestions - someone might have more than a $10 budget for dinner, but still not care enough about great food to eat at your $10 suggestion and use the change for something else!

Just don't tell me to stay at Circus Circus...:rotfl:

With TA it's a matter of reading between the lines-especially for Vegas hotels when a losing trip will mean they hate the hotel and a winning trip means everything is seen through rose tinted glasses.
As for the "top ten" I rather like the way a budget hotel can get in there if it is considered to offer good value for money.
For example I see the Orleans as better value for money than say CircusCircus-The rooms are nicer and bigger-the hotel has more facilities-and it takes less time to get to centre Strip than it does from the "Strip location" Circus Circus has (and is cheaper -free direct shuttle versus paying for the ever stopping Deuce). Add in cleaner enviroment and nicer staff and rates starting at $29 and it's good value. Yes some people would rather spend $120 on one night at a five star Strip hotel on a deal rather than have four nights and change for the same money. Different people perceive "value" differently and the ratings on TA do reflect that.
