January , FebruaryThanks for the fast response, im sat here refreshing, lol.
How big is a King? They do say children under 12 are free so maybe they do provide a bed for children seperate?
Good call on the stroller thing, i had never even thought about it and we didnt actually plan to take one!!! He does not use one here, but he doesnt walk miles here either...
I actually lived in Lake Havasu city 10 years ago and have driven loads in Florida on holidays so feel pretty happy to do it i just worry about cramming too much in for my folks. Think i will get one, even if just for say 2/3 days out of 5 so we can go off and see things. I would really like to show my parents all the sights and where i used to live as well so i guess its going to be the most cost effective option.0 -

A US king is normally the size of a UK super-king - so 6 foot, I think. They may have roll-aways they could bring up for the little one, may be worth asking in advance though - you may be able to put a request in at the time you book, but worth asking if there's an extra charge or anything.
And there's me not knowing anything about children and at what age they stop using a stroller. To be fair, every time I see a kid relaxing and being pushed around I tell my husband that I want an adult sized one for me.
Thinking about the bed thing- the Encore rooms have a sofa/lounge sort of thing that I would think would be fine for a 3-year old to sleep on...it would be OK for me to sleep on, at least...but we've already established that I don't know a lot about kids.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
SeptemberYes I would go for the Wynn or the Encore (they are two different hotels). The bed in the Encore is the most comfortable I have slept in anywhere, even better than MGM or Paris which were super comfy.
The king size bed is massive and 3 of you could easily sleep in it. Yes they are 6 foot wide.
I also agree that the little one could easily sleep on the sofa. You would just have to request bedding from housekeeping.
I would take a stroller if you have one. Adults get sore feet with all the walking and a wee one would really struggle. Maybe just get a cheap one from Argos or similar.
Not sure about child friendly restaurants as Vegas isn't geared toward kids. What price per head were you thinking of without alcohol? We really like Mon Ami Gabi across from the Bellagio fountains, but there are far better, and more expensive, restaurants available. I would imagine it would be too cold to sit on the patio in January.
Have you read Page 1 of this thread as it is full of info?0 -

Hoping for some advice as im going insane reading reviews and looking up hotels. :-D Sorry for long post.
We are flying out to Vegas Jan 17th and will stay for 5 nights before heading off on a round the world trip. We chose to put Vegas on the start of our trip to get married and for the Vegas part there will be myself, my H2B our 3 year old son and my parents.
I have the following prices for the following hotels and wondered if anyone can give me any pointers, im going in circles reading reviews.
All of the following are the actual amount payable in total. The totals are in dollars as well and i would also maybe like to try the $20 sandwich trick, do any of the hotels work better than others?
Have a look at www.frontdesktip.com
Mirage = $742 Deluxe Room
Too much
NYNY = $632 Room is Park Avenue Premium View Room.
Too much for staying south strip
MGM Grand = $482 (this seems a good deal, however everything reads like this is a massive place and im not sure my mums up to miles of walking) Rooms here is Grand Tower Room, although its not much more for West Wing.
Do not go for the West Wing, they are tiny, but that is a good price for one of the best places to stay. Don't worry about it being huge, ALL the hotels are huge, and most get you to walk the length of them to get to the room elevators
Wynn Encore & Resort both = $666 ( Seems great price as well) Rooms are Resort Suite King and Resort King.
As ferf says, the best deal in one of my top 3 hotels by far. I would just email and ask about rollaway beds for the little one. The only problem is that these hotels are a bit far north of the centre for some people, but if you have a car, no probs at all, and you are right next to Peppermill!!
Caesars = $760. Room type is Roman Tower or Classic.
$760 for a Classic room???
I know they are very different hotels, but if you want the most bang for your buck where would you go?
If anyone can come up with a better deal i am totally open to that also. its driving me mad looking if im honest and this is week one of a 4 month trip that starts in 8 weeks, im feeling slightly overwhelmed now so any help would be fantastic.
What we want to achieve is somewhere nice to stay, somewhere comfortable for my parents and hopefully with two beds in a room so that when our son is with us or my parents he has his own bed. Do any of the resorts have indoor swimming pools as i have read that most pools will be closed as its January?
No, the only one is in the Platinum AFAIK. But MGM has one of their pools heated during the winter, you could email the others to ask.
We are also looking into our wedding meal. Again just somewhere nice that the 5 of us can have a good meal and make it an even more special day. The cost is not really important, food wise i think for my mum Steak is the safest option.
Mon Ami Gabi all the way.(But I would say that) They do the best fillet Mignon I have ever had, and reasonable as well. You will not go wrong eating there, best location of a restaurant on the strip, and quite romantic as well I think. How could you not be wooed by having the Bellagio fountains playing "Time to say Goodbye" as the backdrop to your wedding meal. P.S. They have the patio heaters on in the winter
I like the look of Smith and Wollensky and also Craftsteak. My child is very well behaved, however i would still like a place that is known for being childfriendly. Again any other places that you think might be perfect for that special meal greatly appreciated.
Lastly is it worth hiring a car? Hoping to see some sights outside of Vegas, but with such a short timeframe are we best doing trips or doing it ourselves?
There is not really any organised tours outside of Vegas except for the Grand Canyon and Hover Dam (not really impressed with either myself). Not much to see anyway really. 4 Nights (forget the first one with jetlag) there I think you will be kept well enough entertained without a car. The shuttle buses take you from the airport to hotels pretty cheap.
Thanks in advance for any help. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

I think that's an excellent suggestion...but I would say that too.
The only potential problem is if it's windy, it could be a bit chilly even with the heaters...but I'd be quite happy to have had my wedding dinner her even in the winter - but only on the patio...it's so much a part of what makes the place special.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
SeptemberI would say yes, you are.0

SeptemberI hvae travelled all over the world, scuba dived in the Great Barrier Reef, climbed Uluru and many other wonderful things, but I'm glad I'm not so jaded that I can't appreciate something of beauty.
Granted we don't always stop and watch them after 10 trips to Vegas, but that doesn't make them any less beautiful.0 -

44 hours to landing in Vegas!
The Bellagio fountains are superb Kenny. You're just not an old romantic like some of us0 -
