This was a June picture from the site,

If you are over there at present or about to go, can you update everyone as to the traffic etc, as this may get worst before it gets better.

It is going to be an amazing site, when finished, city within a city, with its own firestation etc,you would never want to leave

This is just terrible. What ever happend to the old fantasy Vegas. All they seem to want now is the So-Cals for the weekends. Looks like any other city skyline now. I must be getting old.
And as for the outlets, not for us I am afraid. We would rather spend decent money on new season clobber. Nordstrums and Neiman Marcus at Fashion Show have some really good stuff in at reasonable prices.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Got a few questions I hope some kind souls can help me out with...

Im going to stay in The Venetian (arriving Saturday night about midnight) for a fortnight. We have got the luxury suite booked, which as far as I can tell seems the 'entry level suite'. It looks a wonderful room. However I have read about the $20 complementary upgrade. The missus is worried that we will get a worse room or will have to pay extra at the end of our stay if i do this. Does this ever happen? What are feasible upgrades from Venetian Luxury Suite? Are there any steps down from there (Venezia Tower?)? If they ask me which upgrade I would like, what would u choose? Diff suite? Better view? Palazzo? Are there any other perks u can hit the clerks for?

Also Ive made a list of things to visit (entertainment, shows, attractions, restaurants, bars, clubs, etc), but Im finding it difficult to plan which ones to visit in conjunction with restaurants (which i also have listed). Which is best way of working out which is near to which?

Are there any particular scams to beware of, other than hustlers in bars etc?

I planned to bring 2 fairly large suitcases (to use for excess shopping I will do!) as we are allowed 2 x 23kg allowance but I have been told that immigration may look upon people bringing two cases as more likely immigrants and give them a harder time. I cant imagine bringing 2 cases to somewhere like Vegas is gonna arouse suspicions. Can anyone clarify whether this is likely?

I have never heard of anyone being given a complimentary upgrade and having to pay at the end of the stay - they will make it clear to you if there will be a charge for the upgrade and you can decide if you want to take it or not. I'm not sure what you mean about getting a worse room? You should, in theory, get the type of room you booked or better. You are arriving very, very late though and on one of the busiest nights of the week - so if it were me, I would contact the hotel if you haven't and let them know about your late arrival.

Have you had a look at Froggit's map? He posted it just recently regarding a WalMart question - it has a lot of things marked on it in one place so might help you narrow down what is near what. I agree with those who say don't overplan, but having a good idea what things are close together makes it a lot easier to hit the things you want to do.

Sorry to hear about the gambling ferf. I also sat at a machine and played one spin then discovered it was a 5c machine rather than 1c so I quickly moved.

I hope the gambling gods smile down on you soon.

Thanks! I think it worked since they did! I won't bore anyone with the details and it's not nearly as big as my husband's win last trip, but the biggest for either of us this trip - $371 at PH on Sea Monkeys last night. :)

A little weather update live from the inlaws in the GC (if I had the time I'd superimpose them pointing across a weather map at this point; your imagination will have to suffice instead):

"Weather here is freezing - about 23F when we wake up warming up to about 55F as the day goes on"

Oh, and well done to Ferf on the win. I never won anything on the electronic machines in PH so stuck to the reels (with poor results). I'll have more confidence next time.

I've had remarkably good luck at PH this trip - my 2 biggest wins were there, and it's why I went back there last night (hubby couldn't be bothered and opted to stay at Bally's)...I lost at first and was thinking 'well, he did the right thing not coming over here with me' but the last $20 I was willing to play there yielded exceptionally positive results. :)

It was nice since he'd had the 2 biggest wins of the trip up until then...so nice to have a nice win to share.

Only today and tomorrow left for us...trying to work out what to do today. I booked a massage at 5pm...my first 'real' massage. I'm slightly frightened by the whole concept but they have a mid-week special for a 55 minute Swedish massage for $80 so I'm going to go for it.

Glad to hear that your luck has turned around.

Hope you enjoy the massage. I love getting a massage, but find that the ones in salons are never firm enough, that's why I like the Chinese place.

City Center is looking a lot better now than it did in May when it was still pretty much a building site.

    agree with you 100% stoneman
las vegas the first time i went was a city like no other, however the most recent time there is far too much there you can find in any city...the city center has ruined it in my opinion it is out of keeping with the rest of the strip.
