rooms were clean enough i suppose but still dark & dingy - then again we didnt get put in one of the new 'plasma rooms'. However the bathroom was awful.

i just didnt like the casino, the bars, the buffet, the food court - all seemed very old and dirty.

The Pool area was good though.

Midget Stripper? i would not know, feel asleep...

did go and see the midget at o'sheas though, which is where we also discovered BEER PONG!!!!

    Thanks for the various tips.
(If you're travelling to Gatwick the night before, you can do twilight check in, get rid of your cases and get your boarding cards etc the evening before, which means you only have to turn up with hand luggage the morning of the flight and can go straight to security.)

And a special thanks for that one, we are travelling to London the night before and staying over, so that will make a huge difference to us.

Twilight check-in is great - just remember that you can't carry any liquid or gels over 100ml through security and if you use twilight your cases will be gone the night before - so plan your toiletries accordingly! :)

And on to the questions - firstly, what is everyone's experience of Labor Day weekend? We're going to be landing on the Sunday evening and staying at Mandalay Bay for 5 nights. Is it going to be crazy busy for the Sunday/Monday? Do people tend to take the rest of the week off work (making that whole week busy?)

    Thanks again!!

I've not been there Labour Day but was there Memorial Day last year (Our spring bank holiday) it was extremely busy and noisy (Why do Americans insist in screamin Wooooooo!!!) from the Friday night onwards, we left on the Sunday and went down to LA so can't help you with how the Monday looked in Vegas but the parks in LA quietened down after the Monday.

As for cabanas - id wait until your there, get them as and when.

We made lots of plans upfront, stuck to literally NONE of them! lost a packet in deposits etc.

Just go with the flow, they are readily availbale most days except on weekends, when i guess the majority of them are reserved for high rollers & celebs etc?

Been a lurker on this (and the old) thread so hello all!

I'm thinking of going to Vegas next year with a group of about 6-8 and stumbled across vrbo . com. Seem to have some great prices for MGM Grand suites.

Has anyone here used that site before?

vrbo.com (Vacation Rentals by Owner) allows owners of various types of accomodation to find people to rent their accomodation. Some of the owners will use a management company to do it, others may do it themselves depending on if they are local...so really the only way to compare experiences with vrbo.com rentals would be to compare the same unit rented by someone else...otherwise experiences may vary dramatically.

You may get a good deal going through them. I think some charge for housekeeping which may or may not impact on the overall value of the deal. When we've looked before out of curiosity the terms seemed to be more restricted - i.e. once you booked, you couldn't cancel...but that may be down to the ones we looked at and others may be more flexible.

    Hi Guys,

Quick question - US Airways or Continental?

I looked at the flights again today & Continental are still higher than they were on Thursday but I noticed that US Airways seem to have good prices (£398) flying in & out of Glasgow which is a bonus.

The only difference is the connection which is Philly rather than NY. Now I was hoping to stay 3 nights in NY but the hotel prices are silly & the deal I had my eye on has gone :o

    Thanks

PS - Luci - well done on getting those flights sorted out!!

I've just been looking on Kayak for Vegas flights for a quick 4 nights at the end of August and have found a few bargains at £374 (compared to July and mid-August £550+). Has anyone used a site called Terminal A? Are they okay, I've never heard of them before. The flight in question is mixed carrier - Air France and Delta - does this mean that if we miss the 2nd flight we're stuck? Is it safer to choose the AA flight for £406?

    Thanks, Lisa

Just had another thought, i have to have a wheelchair at airports, will using different carriers make this more complicated?
