any Flights found that = £300 -£400 each and you are happy with should be booked up ASAP IMO . they only tend to get more expensive . after that , book a fall back hotel that can be cancelled without penalty from the links in post 1 . after that check Fatwallet thread for hotel deals once or twice a week until 12 weeks out then as often as you can .

remember you only usually need to pay for your 1st nights accommodation up front when you book direct with the hotel . you pay the rest on check out . so all you need to pay up front is your flights and night one of your stay .

booking things seperate usually works out cheaper , and will have a lot more flexiablity . however you can never say never . some people have found packages that are competitive , and the pound may nose dive against the $ between now and when you go . i personally would not do anything but a DIY trip to Vegas .

book car hire sooner rather than later . you cannot do much better than ....

This post was a massive help, thanks.

Going to book the flights next week, and then just wait and see for the Hotel. We have plenty of time. Didnt know about them only taking the first night as a deposit, so went and had a look. Great stuff!

Now the problem with booking flights first, is that LV may be over subscribed, or so a relation of mine suggests.

I heard that BA are having a sale in September so we're going to get flights first, and then book accomodation afterwards.

Word of warning though. It seems to throw up a higher nightly rate for the whole period if the first night is a friday or saturday. For a start date of friday 10 Dec or Sat 11 December it shows a nightly rate of $149.25 instead of the $90.30; which would have been over $500 more for my 10 night stay if I hadn't experimented with my dates. So play around with it you might get even better rates

As for LV getting over subscribed, that will never happen. I can only assume that your relation has never been!! Yes there are times that there are large conventions, but believe me, the place will NEVER run out of rooms.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Agreed absolutely nothing to worry about.
Is you relative a travel agent trying to sell you package? Honestly the only people who would suggest that are travel agents trying to secure a booking or as suggested earlier someone who hasn't been and is making assumptions based on other destinations they may have travelled to.

Go small.....they never have them in stock cos they buy for the yank market ie large cars.....so youll probably get a nice upgrade for free.

We booked a small and ended up with a convertible.

Always a good sign when they offer you an upgrade for a fee. Refuse it nicely and you normally get it anyway with no extra charge as they've run out of small ones.
