I'm now in the process of writing a military grade itinerary for the 8 nights.

really, listen to Luci. It's fine to plan some things, but you really will find that you will not stick to a rigid itinerary and may end up stressed when you're 'behind schedule'.

Our third trip we had learned a lesson though - to at least have the things we wanted to do in a format that grouped things geographically close together. Prior to that we'd find that we went to X place one day, then headed back to our hotel way at the south end of the strip...only to look at our notes and realise something else we really wanted to do was across the street from where we were originally and were now really too far to go back that day. At least knowing what's near other things helps in that respect..

The only time we did any sort of proper itinerary was when we took the in-laws as we had certain things we didn't want to miss and had to plan somewhat carefully so we could fit it all in...but even then, we had several gaps of several hours throughout the week and some things that could be shifted into open slots to free up time in their original slot.

Saw this at Open Vegas...Sunday-Thursday until 1st October - 2-for-1 entrees at various restaurants at Station Casinos - mostly those open only for dinner but a few open earlier. Limited to two free entr!es per use.

I'd hoped it would be good for their cafes which we really like, but sadly not. BUT it's good at various other restaurants including Austin's Steakhouse at Texas Station and Sonoma Cellar Steakhouse at Sunset Station...both of which we really like. And given that the cheapest steak at either is $25 and they go up to $32, it's even better than restaurant.com vouchers for either.

I haven't seen it, but I haven't seen a good review for it yet. Most people say he looks bored and is extremely arrogant.

A girl on another board was very keen to see him despite me telling her this. When she came back she was really disappointed with the show. They had front row seats and someone came along and told them that after a certain act to stand up, clap and cheer and the rest of the audience would follow suit. All to massage his ego, but no-one else did stand up so they obviously didn't think much of it either.

She also saw Steve Wyrick and said he was much better. He's in the Miracle Mile.

I have emailed the Carriage House about pedestrian access to the strip seeing as there is major construction on Harmon. Some reports say it is/will be closed to both traffic and pedestrians.

They asked me to contact them again at the beginning of September when they will have a better idea.

Just in case we have to cancel our stay there, as we won't have a car and will need to walk to the strip, I have just booked Harrah's as a fall back.

Has anyone stayed at Harrah's or had any comments?

I haven't really paid any attention to Harrah's before as it isn't a place I've ever considered staying at.

I was also considering the MGM, where we have stayed before, but hubby thought we would be better with a hotel in a different location as we are already staying centre and south strip.

we stayed at Harrahs once but it was about 3 or 4 years ago I think...had 2 free nights there and thought we'd try it out (we didn't check out of Bally's). We checked out after 1 night at Harrahs and didn't much care for the room, but we got the smallest room in Vegas I think - at the end of a corridor and next to the fire stairs, so it was set back in both length and width making it smaller than the rest of the rooms on the floor. I think had our room been a reasonable size we would have been fine there.

Only thing that annoyed us was it was one of the Vegas hotels (along with Rio of those we've stayed at) where you can only put the temp on the thermostat in the room down so low and it blocks you from making it colder than that. We found the room to be quite stuffy even with the AC on max. We hate to be hot though, so it might not be a big deal.

Our room looked over Carnaval Court and the pool - had patio doors that opened onto a teensy-tiny balcony. I liked that - I liked hearing the music from CC in the room especially with the patio door open. Some people complain about it though - especially light sleepers.

I think it's fine to plan-for some people planning is part of the holiday build up and it does help you work out what is near to what and do-able together.....BUT......be prepared to vary it and roll with the unexpected so you don't get stressed if things change. Don't forget too that if you don't manage to fit in everything you planned.........Well you'll just have to return for another trip to do them-and that's a GOOD thing ! :)

vegas doesn't have any big sports teams of thier own (i was told it was due to gambling/sports betting) but lots of amateur footballl and basketball, worth checking out UNLV for games they don't mind outsiders coming and a good laugh

Yes understand that it is to do with betting laws in the US thats why Vegas doesn't have superbowl weekend just "the big game!" (I've been reading my guide books!!!)

More than happy with UNLV games or amateur anymore info??
