Louise - that stinks - its sheer incompetance that they have left you hanging on this long, I hope you get it sorted.0

Hey there everyone! Well, what can I say Medini... sounds very unfair and totally unprofessional by Manpower. I'd go for Scrooge's suggestion of following up but if it doesn't work out then are they really the sort of company you want to work for? Something will come along, just keep on fighting. If you need any specific advice on bills etc - please ask, I've got very good at finance budgeting...!
Bunnie - welcome to the line! Keep on moving along and dancing with us.
Everyone else - well, you've all been very busy. Remember any movement or ripple in the world is good. Keep on throwing those stones and churning up the waters. :T
Scrooge - I totally agree that sometimes the journey takes you somewhere else from your original destination. These days, flexibility seems to be the key and certainly I am in a different place than I thought. However DON'T lose sight of your goals. They are worth hanging on to.
Rosered: thanks for the good wishes! Glad to see you're staying positive and well done!
Okay, all, I'm off to work tomorrow for the first time in ages and looking forward to it. Dreamt I couldn't work a computer last night, so guess I'm more nervous than I'm letting on. Walked my dog today and spent some time training him while out, which took my mind off things. Suddenly it all seems to be happening very fast. And of course the benefits system is completely useless as we won't get any more JSA now (because I signed off and OH has used up his contributions) so will be pretty skint until I get paid. Hey ho... I wish I was an MP...:rotfl:
Love, peace and luck to you all. Will check back with you in a couple of days so keep those positive thoughts going and don't let them grind you down.
Take care,

Hope you have a great day at work tomorrow sackcloth, and get good vibes from the place.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0

Hi all
- just a quick post to say Have a good first day Sackcloth!
I'm under the weather at the mo, back soon to see how everyone is doing xxx0 -
Hope everyone has a positive first whatever they happen to be doing!:j
I have to go to the jobcentre today. I am filled with dread before going, dissapointed when I get there as my advisor will not look at me and the whole meeting makes an averaged of 30 seconds and then I feel miserable for the rest of the day. Its got the point where I think I could fill my job card in with wizard, brain surgen, etc and they wouldn't notice.0 -
Medini - my experience of going to the job centre is the same - I feel a bit sorry for the advisors tho, as they are not advisors at all, know nothing about the job market and don't have the expertise to give any real help. It must be a horrendous job to do. I am signing off this week as I am fairly sure I will get the part time shop job which will keep me ticking over. Either way, I can't bear signing on any more - it's pointless.
Hi to everyone and hope you are all doing ok!
The shop job boss has already contacted both my referees, and my referees rang me to tell me they had done the references for me today - so I'm hopeful. I just have to wait for the security clearance (3-8 wks) as it's in an army barracks.
Bye for now0 -
Agree with your sentiments about job centre staff rosered. It's such a great feeling to sign off. Enjoy the moment.
Funnily enough, I've got an interview tomorrow for a job that I've applied for a couple of times before and not had a response. Just four hours a week but decent hourly rate and PAYE with holidays. If I get this job, I will stop there. Fingers will be in enough pies. Any more to fend off this insecurity and I think I'll refer myself for counselling
My tax return for this year will be a nightmare:eek:
I am set up as self employed for mystery shopping/surveys /cleaning/deliveries etc. A limited company for accounts and debt collecting and if I get tomorrows job, two PAYE jobs. I'm only working about 25/30 hours a week though and it fits around the family, so I am not complaining.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -
I did a days work today and got another day tomorrow too, not the most challenging of jobs but still kept me busy. We finished earlier than expected so I went round a few of the local employers basically marketing myself so who knows!0

Hi Bunnie,
Glad you got a couple of days work. I think it is a real confidence booster, and when you are in a workplace you are in an excellent position to sniff out any further opportunities.
Sounds like you are being very pro-active.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0
