I dont think its wrong at all! Im really proud of you for not letting your disabilitiy stop you from doing things. Does your daughter have any friends that are walked to school or driven from near by that could help ?
Im a bit annoyed that the only option given to you is to go on incapcity benefit and probably move just to get support ! I wish I could help with some other ideas but I cant think of any at the moment. If I do ill be straight over here to pass them on
You really are doing amazing, dont forget that !0 -

Thank you Claire. My neighbours children go to the same school, and she has been taking dd into school for the past few days cos of the weather. She has offered from time to time in the past aswell, and I do take her up on the offer at times, but I just can not bring myself to keep asking, she's a busy mum with other commitments, dd is my responsibility and I want to be independent as well as much as possible. I am quite a proud person if you hadn't guessed!!!
That said, the lateness when it has happened, has been by 10 mins at worst. So I need to fine tune, I am aware of that. Im not without fault. However, it has become more than just the matter of lateness with the school for me, it is that feeling that they think Im making it all up, everything was discussed with the previous head when the application to the school was originally made. Now hes gone, its more of a battle. Im aware Im feeling this way more and more anyway because as I am getting older my disability is effecting me more and that is something Im working on myself to accept is the case, and the fact that Im on my own in dealing with it makes everything feel more of a fight than it might actually be. Nevertheless, that is how it feels. This weather has only served to highlight how this is true because I have simply been housebound for a week so far and without my friends and neighbours I would be totally stuck.
Thank you for your post Claire! Onward and upward. Positive vibes!

A walking bus is just that - some mums and dads basically supervise the kids walking to school "picking" children up at stops along the route. The government is supposed to be promoting these so there may be money in it for your school if they can set one up. So in theory all you would need to do is get DD ready to be at the end of path/road at a set time and then they make sure they get there alright.Sealed pot challenge 822

Ive never been made aware of such a service. That said, I had made it clear to the school that wherever dd ended up, I would be driving her there to save my energy for me working during the day, so maybe thats why they haven't told me of that service if one exists from our way. Im just wanting them to be understanding of my situation, and realise that even when I have got her there 10 mins late its taken all of me not to be even later than that. My goal every day is to be ok in the am, and not overtired in the eve and to just be as normal as poss.
Good news!Hoorah. Its raining. Still snow in the garden, but I can see green grass!!! Am def going to take dd to school this am, just see what the paths are like around and about. I could poss do my dels of orders later to some of my customers, and prepare my catalogues during today to go out tom for collection Mon. Surely, thats the end of the snow now!?

I hope you manage to have a productive day - but if it doesn't turn out to be so, don't stress about it.....you are doing what you can in the weather circumstances, so what will be will be!

My neighbour popped round earlier to see if i wanted her to take dd in to school. I declined, as I thght I would be ok, and I wanted to see what the paths are like to assess what I can do today. Another neighbour last eve had shovelled the snow and ice off our parking area so I could actually walk to the car safely. Bless him, he also went out and bought us some digestive biscuits. They were lovely, that sort of thing is a treat for us!! I was 5 mins late for school, arrived with a lot of other children though so it wasn't as pronounced as usual. Today, I started to panic when I couldn't get my funny foot into its boot without my toes going peculiar - my "injury" from before hasn't quite vanished, and so it took me a good three attempts to get the boot on with my foot feeling comfortable and so a good 10 mins went by with me doing that and oh how I wished I hadn't turned my neighbours offer down. I had done so well up to putting my boots on, I just didn't think I would have a problem, however, I haven't worn them for a good week or so and oh never mind, its over. Dd is at school.
The paths here in places are still solid ice. I think if it continues to rain today tom will be a good day to start getting books out. I will also work on sat and sun ifneed be, but certainly sat. Have just spoken to mum. She is going to collect dd from school for me today, Im thinking I could get some ofmy deliveries done this afternoon before dark, Ive had a drive around before coming home to assess where I could del safely. Mum def thinks I should only del in daylight. She doesn't want me to fall over after being so careful so I will heed her advice. Today I can finally prepare my books with the day tickets all done saying I will collect on Mon.
So, my to do list is:
Have a cuppa! Most important!
Prepare 250 brochures
Do deliveries for a couple of hours locally this afternoon.
Home by dark, do prospect calls till 6pm.
Dd home then with mum
Once dd asleep, prepare for tom

PAF - I was furious on your behalf reading this! And then you go on to say that the school didn't actually open until 10am :rotfl:
What's infuriating is that there are thousands of children all over the country playing truant every day, so why pick on you when DD is 10 minutes late?
You are an inspiration and I sense you would see selling up and moving to a housing authority place as failure. You've worked so hard and there are lots of people you don't even know about who are supporting you. So what I'm waffling about is tha you shouldn't be afraid to ask for help (I am a fine example of that - OH says I would rather break my back than ask for help moving furniture!)- even if it's for something which seems silly.
Please take care of yourself and your wonderful daughter who sounds amazing.:AOverpay!0
