I've just found this diary, Positive and Focused, and I think you're great. Here's me sat here whingeing about having to finish my dissertation. I will get on with it now thinking how much worse things could be (and how lucky I am that they are not). Thanks for the inspiration and making me feel bad for procrasinating. I'll be happy to hear how things continue with you. Take care. x

Congratulations on being the top salesperson, that's an exceptional achievement. It sounds like you are a great mentor too. They are great skills to have, and deserve to be well rewarded financially.

Wishing you a lucrative festive period.
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.

Thank you Scrooge. Yes, I dont really say about my awards too much as I dont want to come accross as someone who brags, but every so often I remind myself that achieving something like that does mean that anything is possible, and I must never give up on myself, nor should anyone else give up on themselves. I will achieve what I want to in my business for my dd and I. Being disabled and working the business on my own etc etc are not issues unless I want to make them so I tell myself. Yes, there are 1000 people in the group Im part of, Im the only disabled person as far as Im aware in it, I achieved it despite falling over on the odd occasion! the people in second place were a couple, and just £140 behind me so it was a close run thing, but the elation oh the elation, the standing ovation, the way all my friends/colleagues warmed to my achievement, if I could bottle that feeling, I would make a million selling it. Sitting here thinking about it now it makes me go all goose bumps! It made everything so worth while, the extra efforts I made to generate more sales from everywhere I could think of. As I say my name is on a trophy, it was my dream to achieve it and I did and it spurs me on. I have always loved what I do, and I will progress up the payplan, and create a financial freedom for my dd and I with continued effort and with working on self belief. Im certain that is half the battle, believing in yourself, with everything in life.

Thanks for your continued support. This diary continues to be an amazing experience. The 1st September, the start of not just a new day, but a new month! Lets see what wonderful things occur in the course of our DF ventures!!!
My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)
May 2013 £124,080.27= £37,903.50 paid off WOW!!!!! Well done! There is a guardian angel out there! :AI'm visualising success, debt freeness, and happy days!:T
  • Great post PAF !
That elated feeling it's wonderful to have experienced it. I think you are spot on with the self belief.

Re sparkly's suggestion for an Emergency fund, this is what I'm always trying to build up to, I know it goes against the grain of many a MSE'r but for me when things go wrong the plastic takes a beating and the whole thing is a downwar spiral.

    Here's to a positive September.

    Hi In a Pickle,

Please do not feel bad for procrastinating! Im not that wonderful believe me, in my darker moments I feel like Im going mad and if you didn't prcrastinate every so often you wouldn't be human, and you wouldn't be able to improve in the areas where you want to. Life would be v dull!! This diary is teaching me to not fear what could be ahead, but almost to enjoy being in debt in order to enjoy the ride and the challenge in getting out of it. To focus on the future more than what has been - if at all possible - so that you can help yourself to be as positive as possible about your situation and look forward to a more secure financial future with less worry and stress. Have a good day.

  • What a result! Just contacted MBNA and they will take my repayment on the 11th of this month, not the 9th which is when it was originally due. That gives me a chance to transfer my work bonus over to my main acc on the 10th to cover it. What a relief. They also offered me a secured loan which they said would be on a reduced interest rate to the one Im paying now, but Ive said no to that. I dont want to go down that route. I explained that I am currently waiting to hear from MBNA re reducing my rate anyway, and if that takes place I will be able to bring my DFD forward without securing anymore of it on a longer term loan. It amazes me how they offer these things to someone like me with the debt I have.

But anyway result as far as my min payt goes this month.

ROFL! I've turned procrastination into an art form! :rotfl: I should hold big seminars about it and charge: that would sort out my cash problems as well. ;) You're definitely right about focusing more on the future than the past, and as for the rest, I'm working on it!

Your diary is so great you have made me start my own. I think it will help me keep more on track as I will have to arcticulate my thoughts, justify expenditure and stay focused. Please feel free to stop by for a cup of tea and a biscuit anytime you like. It's called 'InaPickle getting out of a pickle!' and is at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1917515

Thanks once again for the inspiration. :T x

  • Thanks InA Pickle! Will come and visit shortly!

Well the good news first Secured loan No 2, another £59.06 paid off.
The bad news: Egg have increased my interest rate to 25%. I assume this is because I am only making themin payts to them. I cant think of anything else. Have emailed them in the remote event they will review it.

Last day before dd goes back to school. Just about to do some paperwork, some baking, then get dressed - I like to potter when I can, do all the chores, then get dressed! - and enjoy the day. Currently pouring with rain!

    Hi there,

Hope you get Egg to review that decision, 25% is extortionate, but a lot of the CC companies are doing this.

I liked this quote that I read, this morning, on a blog.

“Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass…It’s about learning
how to dance in the rain”.

I'm going to go and Tango :rotfl:

What a fantastic quote Scrooge. Thank you for sharing that, makes me feel quite emotional and reminds me to stay positive about everything. Money, money, money in the words of Abba is on my brain constantly most days, but today it is there, not keen on this "just hanging in there "feeling really. Till tomorrow I have £1.59 to my name. Need to see when I can get an appt for the local auction rooms to value my furniture. Have emailed them, but nothing yet has been arranged. Today being the last day of the school hols, I decided to take off from work in the main - doing business calls later - but just about to make some scones for my aunty who has just come out of hospital.

Thanks once again for that quote. Have written it down and its here for me to read anytime to remind myself Im on the right track albeit slowly!
