Parking ticket in Dual use car park

Tha parking attendant said he didn't believe they were in use on a saturday so I will change the (as yet unposted) letter.
And I will write to the DT if I have to - but what I am wondering is whether it's worth objecting. I was caught before when the cost went up and I didn't spot it so the machine gave me a one hour ticket (and no change) and I thought I'd paid for two...I paid up then without a qualm and decided it was a fair cop.
And it was some time ago when I got that advice. But it is a 'funny' car park. We'll see when this gets put on the right sub forum...
And it's only going to cost the price of a stamp to find out so worth a pop I think...nothing ventured nothing gained....Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Good luck Valli, like you say - nothing ventured nothing gained.
I'm not sure how you'll do, as it is 'word of mouth' as you say, but I would ring and speak to someone in the councils parking department, they may have more information on how it would be taken, and also about the 14 day bit - it won't give you a final result, as they will tell you to write in anyway so that it can be assessed, but forewarned about it might help you decide whether you are better off just paying.
All the best with it, I hate parking charges anyway (think I might have mentioned that before)

Yes def worth a try I'm always in favour of keeping on at something like this until there is nowhere else to go with it. I've had some very successful results by persisting with things when others have said there was no chance so go for it.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.0 -
Kiddy guy - I don't work at these offices - It's a public car park on saturday. Don't know why you think I do? The parking ticket was issued on a saturday (today) when the car park is available for public use and the offices are closed.
Bowling-4 although the ticket was issued by Park Smarter on the notice various councils logos feature. The ticket states that the enforcement authority is Chesterfield Borough Council and their name is on the ticket.
I can't scan but it says
PCN Number (number) served on 27/06/09 by Civil Enforcement Officer (number) "who had reason to believe that the following contravention had occurred and that a penalty charge is now payable:
Parked in a designated disabled person's parking place without displaying a valid disabled person's badge in the prescribed manner."
I'm disputing it because of the dual use of the car park and the fact that the disabled spaces are, in effect, useless for a disabled person on a saturday. And I have parked in those spaces before (more than once TBH) and NOT had a ticket. On a Saturday.
ETA On the back it states that
'Further information about Civil Parking Enforcement(including PCNs and NtO) is available on line at www.patrol-uk.info'
What exactly have I been issued with then? According to that website's diagram they will pursue me through court if I don't pay and an appeal is unsuccessful - but not much information on it. That's why I came to ask MSE'ers (many of whom do seem to know what they are talking about) (albeit in the (slightly) wrong place).
Thanks for commenting!

Well surely then if you knew it was a public car park at weekends, then surely the rules of the car park would apply - the big sign behing the pay meter? Find that - find your answer.
I'm struggling to see your point. I believe a previous warden gave you bad advice, but that's your only point of contention.0 -
Takoda (and anyone else interested)
Just a thought - I am 99% certain the rear entrance to the offices, adjacent to the disabled spaces, is SIGNED as a disabled entrance SO I will edit my letter to point this out as the offices and entrance aren't in use on a Saturday when the car park changes use...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

My point is that the disabled spaces are intended as disabled spaces (being adjacent to the rear entrance) Mon-Fri
I might have been given bad advice previously BUT I parked there and WAS NOT GIVEN A TICKET...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Your argument seems to be that the spaces are primarily for council staff who only work Mon-Fri. I would expect and prepare for the counter argument that they may be required weekends as well if staff have to work overtime.0 -
On occasion the 'disabled' spaces are used by workmen who need access to the offices on a Saturday. Clearly THEY aren't disabled....nor are they required to leave the spaces free for disabled people.
