Additionally, I believe that a clear head and business nouse is needed when setting up a new business and this is difficult to achieve when you have problem debts hanging about over your head.

Never mind a hormonal partner and soon to be screaming baby at all hours.

I've just had another read through the original post, I think other people are right, starting your own business now would not be right, you need money now, not in a few months time.

Right, as others have said, you need to sit down and cut absolutely everything out you don't need, be ruthless. Everything must go you don't need.

Your council tax scares me, £2600 a year! Thats huge, could you get a smaller house?

What are you living on now?

Queen P - I just want to say best of luck with the rest of the pregnancy, I know it's hard but please try and stay as calm as you can for your own good as well as the baby!

Being a mum is absolutely brilliant, you have so much to look forward to. The night feeds don't last forever either - my little boy was sleeping through at one month! He certainly made up for it during the day though - little guzzler. :p

Believe me, I know what it is like to have a baby on the way and no idea where the money is going to come from to live on - luckily my husband found a good job and we lived with my parents for 6 months to save money but it was a bit of a nightmare at the time!

Lots of people are here to support you so feel free to come on here and have a good rant whenever you feel like it - it does help!

    Queen P,

Just wanted to say Hello, and that I hope your situation improves soon. All will say is that my h2b is in IT and was off for a almost a yr with stress and high blood pressure. He set up his own business which was made easier by my family already running a computer shop. It was really hard and still stressful and all our time and money went on starting him up. Advice is , if he wants to do home visit fixing pc's then target an estate near to you that have a lot of retired people. We work on one and they need help all the time fixing things and also cant always carry the pc to a shop so its ideal for them to have somone visit. My h2b charges £25 an hour for call outs.
I would also contact the mortgage people about freezing payments or maybe you have payment protection. Other than that i cant help but i wish all the best and good luck with your pregnancy.

Could you do without a car altogether? It seems to be costing you a lot of money and there are good bus routes to hospitals now.

When you go for your hospital check ups you don't need to have anyone go along with you. Just a straightforward checkup will only take a few minutes and wont hurt so you wont need anyone there.

When the baby is born you will be entitled to more benefits if your OH hasn't found a job by then.

Look on the OS boards for ways to get your shopping bill down.

When the baby is born she can look for work herself. Also she may not need someone to go to the hospital with her but it feels better to have someone with you.

Ok badly worded but the mother can get a job. No-one needs to rely on a man to support them.

Of course she can, but that's going to have to be one well paying job considering what is currently going out at the moment. And that could be a fair few months down the road.
