Childminder contract breached?
Comments
-
I am concerned that OFSTEd haven't taken her registration away.0

I'd get back onto OFSTED, she should at least be suspended pending investigation. That's a serious breach, and she shouldn't still be looking after children.Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0

To be fair she could carry on even if she wasn't registered, that may only come to light once HMRC tax credits told the parents that they were claiming for a minder that was no longer registered. At least this way she has to answer to Ofsted and has them checking on her. Ofsted are there to monitor, they are doing that. Not registered = not checked0

I hope you get it sorted O.P.
Its always best when writing out the cheque for the childminder every month to take a couple of minutes just to pop their registration number in the Ofsted site just to check nothing has changed.0 -
do you think she's waited so long for the heat from Ofstead to cool a bit before chasing you for what she 'feels' is owed?
Can't think of a better way to explain it sorry0 -
People should really look after their own children and not rely on child minders then these sort of issues would not arise.
Hows that possible? I've NEVER used a childminder but I still think your comment is out of order. You may walk and you may run
You leave your footprints all around the sun
And every time the storm and the soul wars come
You just keep on walking0 -

I would certainly let ofsted know that she is threatening you with court proceedings for failure to give four weeks notice. This sounds like a fundamental breach of contract, which would entitled you to terminate the contract immediately and without notice - it would be interesting/helpful if ofsted would confirm that this is also their view.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

By defination, you are saying that you don't look after your own children as you don't want them to be as "well rounded" as you0 -
I have read with interest the good and awful things minders have done and the care they provide and as a childminder I'd like to say we are not all bad . Personally yes I know a lot of bad ones and I will and have reported concerns of their care to ofsted .I care for pre school age children and have a very good relationship with the childrens parents tehy treat me like a friend and they know that thier child is accepted into my care as part of my family which is why many choose me .
We are checked by Ofsted every 3 years unless a complaint is made then we are inspected earlier or with an unannounced visit ( personally I think they should all be unannounced as people do Blagg their way to getting higher gradeings) I am also a member of the local childminding network which provides a high standard od care is delivered these visit me and do un announced visits to check numbers , saftey ie smoke alarms , gates and doors secures .I always provide parents with my OFSTED report and my network yearly review so they can see exactly what happens .
I would always say when looking for a minder go to toddler groups in your area don't tell people your looking just observe you'll soon see who's doing a good job and who's kids have a great bond with them .he minders who sit around the edge chatting don't bother with cus if they do this when they are "on show" so to speak what are they doing or rather not doing at home in private . Personally I must be one of the few 42 year olds who wears out the knees of her jeans as I'm always on the floor playing with the children .
I hope I have reasured some people who have concerns about their minders or using one in the future.0 -
