  • I "convinced" my Mum & Dad to get me an early Christmas and Birthday prezzie... So they gave me £150 quid and I went out and bought an XBox 360 on Saturday, made up the rest myself (that was the limit for Christmas...) Went to 1 Sainsbury's - Out of Stock... Went a mile up the road to another Sainsbury's and they had loads of XBox ones in stock - hard to believe the same shop hardly any distance apart 1 out of stock and the other with loads. Kinda glad after reading the end of this thread that I got it on Saturday - I'd rather have the game for £26 than £40+.

P.S. - I'm 31, not a teenager asking his Mum & Dad for an early prezzie...

P.P.S - I love this game - now have it for PC and XBox.... Not signed up to Live yet but once I get a wireless adaptor or an extra long Ethernet cable I'll be doing that too... In the meantime I'll just play SP on XBox and MP on PC.

Good for you.... I also agree.

My hubby plays this series of games, and has the new one. I don't think its as bad as GTA personally. I watch him play, as do my daughters aged 10, 11, 14 and 16 and if that makes me a bad mother, then so be it.

My SIL didn't allow my 19 year old nephew to play with any "violent" toys or have any exposure to violence in the world or even have a computer or a games console when he was younger, he has turned into a drunk and lacks respect for his mother amongst other things.... if thats what prohibition does, I'm not interested thanks.

I would rather that my girls have their eyes fully open..... and yes, I'm one of them awful mothers that believes in talking openly about sex too!!!

You are a bloody disgrace to motherhood.

i hope this is not a serious post.

we have just ordered the game for our daughter who is nearly 12, we only agreed after getting mr divadees best friend to tell us excatly what is in the game and what options you can turn off etc...

every child is different, playing one game does not turn kids violent. i can remember seeing a lot worse at 12 when i was young.

i think it is down to parental choice you know what your children can cope with end of. we have made the informed choice of allowing her to have the game but she is very sensible and mature for her age. there are friends of hers that would not be able to cope with what they are seeing so i would not get it for them if they were my child.

I think the thing is with a game like this, divadee, is that its not violent in the same way that say a Street Fighter/Tekken/beat em up game is.

What kind of mothers knowingly let 12 year olds play an extremely bloody violent game especially when it is rated 18!!! No wonder this country is going to pot with a generation of spoilt thuggish delinquents being dragged up. It's hight time some mothers took a long hard look at themselves in the mirror. The shame of it all.

Actually todays generation are struggling with the back lash of re-establishing boundries that the previous generations currupted with theire over zelous, harsh, abusive up bringing of their children.

Just like women had to fight for their rights to be equals and individualls 80 years ago, Children are now doing the same (or some adult on behalf of them)

I do not believe in beating my children with belts and sticks in order to teach them right from wrong. Children should not just be seen and not heard. They have a voice and an entitlement to be noticed and cared for.

If the previous generations had not been so voilent and phisyical with their children then we wouldnt have so many adults now rebeling and trying to make sure their children do not encouter the same amount of niave, bullying abuse.
  • I have just tried all the various sites to get my other half a copy on Xbox 360 for his birthday... cheapest I found was Tesco Entertainment site at £32 although it is showing delivery in 4-6 weeks, I phoned to confirm this and they said it is coming through in a few days.

Amazon is at £38 at the moment.
    Play £45
Sainsbury £32 but out of stock...

At least at Tesco you get double clubcard points.

    Hope this helps someone.

    Oh my!
This thread seems to be going way off topic, but I just couldn't let this pass. Are you seriously suggesting child abuse was prevalent in the past & has disappeared in this day & age?
I'm really sorry if you have been a victim of oppression or even worse during your upbringing, as I fortunately have not. However, I do know know children are still suffering every day, on all sorts of levels and to sweepingly state that previous generations have all been physically violent & abusive to their children is just nonsense.
I suppose I am old enough to remember very vividly the Jamie Bulger case & children who can't seperate violent fantasy from real life. I tend to use general common sense and have occassionly allowed my youngest son to play a game or watch a film before he is officially of age. I'm lucky I suppose, as I have a 22 year old son too (brought up by the same standards & agrees with me in general, if anything he thinks I'm too soft, lol.) who can advise me sensibly as far as content etc.
On a personal level, I feel that allowing a six year old to partake in games etc for 18+ is a step too far. Sadly, I have worked for years with the results.
What on earth is wrong with allowing children to be children & enjoy their years of growing up gradually? Perhaps it is just too 'old-fashioned' for some.
  • I let my daughter who at the time was 5 play GTA san andreas. She loved going around punching people and shooting people aswell as stealing cars and driving around. She was having great fun.

Shes now 8, shes not stolen a car yet, not killed anyone, doesnt swear and is top of her class. Teacher in the last parents evening said she was the most polite and well behaved girl in the class.

Some of you people need to get a grip, its entertainment !!!!!!. If your that worried about your kids becoming terrorists because they play modern warfare, or becoming criminals because they watch the bill, then surley your real worry should be your parenting skills.

In all honesty, the only realy problem i have with my kids watching is sexual content.
    Waddle you do eh?
