it's at 32quid on tesco entertainment..I'm thinking if I go via quidco, buy 2 dvds or cds (the pre-order 500point jobbies) to make the total 50quid, use the 5£ off 50£ spend code, come feb and tesco honouring their 500point deal, I should have had MW2 for just around a tenner?
any flaws apart from the wait for the games/dvds?

Hi, advice needed please before spending hard earned cash.
Since this game was announced my son has been saving to get it. The problem is he is only 12 and it is only recently that I have been persuaded, against my better judgement, to allow him to play certain certificate 16s games so he was hoping that Modern Warfare 2 was going be cert. 16. Naturally he is now very disappointed especially as many of his 12 year old friends have been allowed to get this game and those who haven't got it are supposedly getting it for Xmas. Anyway he has now been told by his friends who have played on the game that it is no more violent or sweary than the Halo games that my son is now allowed. While I find this hard to believe I would welcome unbiased opinions from people who have played this game since its release.
    Many thanks in advance. ktj

There are millions of 12 year olds playing this game all over the country and kids a lot younger. I personally would let him have it as from watching my husband play it (with my 6 year old son present) it seems far less violent than many of the other games i've seen and certainly no workse than the previous call of duties some of which i believe were a 16 rating. If your son can differentiate between reality and a computer game I wouldn't worry. My 6 year old has been avidly playing along with his dad on games like these for the last year and he hasn't turned into a violent lunatic yet and come to think about it neither has my 19 year who has been playing these games for many years.

Before everyone starts judging me, don't bother because I really don't care, my kids are well mannered, intelligent and well adjusted and how i choose to bring my children up is my business no-one elses.

Maybe you'd like to try 'mothering' your children for once. Yes what a novel idea. But lets just leave it to social services and the police to pick up the pieces shall we.

NO WAY would I let a 12 year old play this game - I watched my DF play the level where you are a terrorist and was mortified at the violence, i was in shock. I have 2 brothers who are in the army and have served in afgan and this was just too raw for me.

I do let my son watch some films that have certificates for older people but only after i have watched them first to see if they really are that bad, and to see if i have the answers to the questions he will inevitably ask me. I do not have any answers for the questions he would ask regarding the violence in this game.

After watching this game, i gave DF strict instructions that he was only allowed to play it when the kids were in bed. And if i ever caught him playing on it when the kids were up and about and could walk in at any moment, not only would i bin the game and sell his PS3 on ebay for £1 , I would chop his tackle off.

I wouldnt fall for the ''all my friends are playing it'' line. Every kid tries to pull that stunt.

I suppose the only way you wil know if it is suitable for ''YOUR'' child is if you play it for yourself.
:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!

Agree with everyone so far saying young kids shouldn't be playing this game. In so many ways it is very realistic, yet when you get shot in real life you don't just see a curved red line.

    Key word bolded.

Granted, not every kid playing games like this will turn into a nutjob, but some will.

Ratings and certificates and games are there for a reason.

Your 6yr old may be well mannered and intelligent, but that doesn't justify letting him play on a game like this.

Good for you.... I also agree.

My hubby plays this series of games, and has the new one. I don't think its as bad as GTA personally. I watch him play, as do my daughters aged 10, 11, 14 and 16 and if that makes me a bad mother, then so be it.

My SIL didn't allow my 19 year old nephew to play with any "violent" toys or have any exposure to violence in the world or even have a computer or a games console when he was younger, he has turned into a drunk and lacks respect for his mother amongst other things.... if thats what prohibition does, I'm not interested thanks.

I would rather that my girls have their eyes fully open..... and yes, I'm one of them awful mothers that believes in talking openly about sex too!!!

The subject matter of the games are totally different, MW2 contains scenes of terrorism, war etc which while may not be considered 'more violent' are more 'real to life' scenarios, whilst Halo is more sci-fi humans v aliens (in very simple terms!) I would not let my 15yr old nephew play MW2, as although he's very mature, i think he's still at an impressionable age. HTH
