Just read about your achievement in my MSE email. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! You're an inspiration. :A
I too have a ridiculous amount of CC debt - not spent on anything extravagant - it just builds up. I also have student loans from being a mature student training to be a teacher - no jobs in my part of the country so not a lot of money coming in - single parent too and having "discussions" with tax credits over alleged overpayment.
BUT, through MSE, I've got 0% interest and low interest 'life of balance' deals - and no longer make the mistake of spending on these cards
I'm now making a real effort to get debt free, though it's going to take some time. Your story is a real incentive. Thank you.
what was the title of the alvin hall book u read as there seem to be many out there plse
OOO I'm really annoyed because I can't find it sorry But I'm pretty certain it was Your Money or Your Life from his TV series he did years ago. Just found that he's on MSN at the moment so some of his articles there might help you for free

How bizarre pixiechick I'm in teaching too (not for much longer hopefully), and with all that other stuff you're like my twin :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I should imagine they are VERY heated discussions with HMRC :rolleyes::rolleyes: have you checked out www.taxcc.org ?? They are all volunteers and very very knowledgeable and supportive, and have loads of letter templates for free
It's cool being a single parent and mature student, but I don't agree that they should make you go into debt with student loans before you can claim any dependent grant, seems ridiculous to me as I just didn't want a loan in the first place......hey ho, that's the way of the world eh
As I've said before if you want any support, let me know and good luck with the rest of the debt reduction :j
