    He was obviously checking if Newcastle had got it right, which it seems they hadn't actually as it pays interest monthly or annually.

    Just received my maturity letter. You can withdraw by cheque or transfer direct to your bank/BS.

    other options are

    1 yr bond @ 1.35% gross
    2 yr Member Bond 1.55% gross
    5 yr loyalty bd 2.40% gross
    Maturity+ 0.50% gross

    I worried about tying my cash up for 5 years last time - glad I did now of course, but at 2.4% I don't think I'll bother.

    I wasn't worried because in reality it was a 90 day penalty free notice account.
