I asked becuase it seems to be more common for fixed term accounts to pay interest annually I thought that the person I spoke to at Newcastle may have been mistaken because I saw mention on this thread of people expecting interest payment on 31st July.

Just received my maturity letter. You can withdraw by cheque or transfer direct to your bank/BS.
other options are
1 yr bond @ 1.35% gross
2 yr Member Bond 1.55% gross
5 yr loyalty bd 2.40% gross

I wasn't worried because in reality it was a 90 day penalty free notice account.0
