I received my direct debit confirmation on the 11th.
I presume something has gone wrong at Newcastle BS for these direct debits not to be taken.
I'm not amused, to say the least.0 -
I am slightly confused. When I applied for this account, I asked for £6400 to be taken out of the nominated accound to fund the BOND, this was to allow for the £3600 to be taken to fund my ISA. Well, they sent me a record card in the post today and it seems they took £7000 out of my nominated account instead.
Is this normal? I specifically put the figure I did for a reason and I am just thankful that I had enough funds in my account to cover the request from Newcastle.
Also, although both (ISA & BOND) DD should have been taken on same day, they haven't collected the ISA money yet.
I am not very happy about this as it now leaves me with less holiday money that I should have and a couple of weeks to magic some more money somehowHas anyone else had the same problem with them taking MORE than you asked them to?

I opened the bond on the 13th and I originally set it up to take £50k direct debit on the 23rd, then on the 14th I spotted the ISA and opened that. Given I have about £15k in a natwest ISA I didn't want to have £65k in here which is above the FSA Compo limit so I rang Newcastle up on the 14th and changed my original £50k to £35k...
23rd came and they still took the £50k.0 -
Had the confirmation letter today that my 49.5 k is in the accoint & for me everything went smoothly .. I think they became a tad overwhelmed in some cases by the popularity of this account .. but ime happy now :beer:0

I knew it couldn't just be me. I tried to phone them up to get an explanation but they are not open so will have to try again on Monday.DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0 -

Has anyone else attempted a faster payment into the 5 year Bond?
I sent a faster payment from Halifax on Monday (27th) but it is still not showing on my account yet. I did receive an email from Halifax 15 minutes after I sent the payment.Dear Customer,
Your Faster Payment was successful and has arrived at the recipient's bank who will apply the funds today.

Not to the bond but to my Newcastle Online Saver.

Wonder where it is?
I've sent 5 FPs from Nat West to fund the bond successfully (£10K per day). They get credited to your NBS account the following (working) day. I've been ringing each day to check. No probs.
Oh, and to call free use their callback facility...

http://www.newcastle.co.uk/contact/callmeI know, I told you:D;)
Would this be of any use?... http://www.newcastle.co.uk/contact/callmeThanks. Don't know how you found this as there's no link on their 'contact' page to 'callme'.
And it doesn't work too well! Just had a call back from 'click-to-call' and had a recording saying they called Newcastle BS and could not get an answer!
Direct geo number anyone?
I'll check again in the morning, and if there's no sign I'll give them a ring.0
