Simple enough - dont shop there then. I get threatened with that at least once a weekend, its generally followed by several expletives and Ive been called everything under the sun for adhering to company policy and doing my best to work through it with the customer. I certainly dont get paid enough to take that!cliffsgirl wrote:why is this now a chat board for Argos staff, Argos is a crap store with crap incompetent management, and the head office and their stupid policies are even worse, I would rather eat my own head than shop in Argos.0 -
I never said i take it out on the staff, i said the management are crap and i know what i am talking about, i worked for argos for 10 years and the staff are fantastic they have to put up with all the stupid policies and rules that make their job much harder, the amount of times i had to explain to a customer why i was not able to refund or replace something and when the customer asked to speak to a manager he used to come out and give them what they wanted, and don't get me started on argos direct.0

Bigger font and clear to see, not so hard to write down the correct number.
It does not matter where the number used to be printed, that has nothing to do with the present layout.0 -
cliffsgirl wrote:why is this now a chat board for Argos staff,
this thread was started quite deliberately - as you will see if you read the first post - to stop other threads going off topic. if you have had a chance to explore the boards yet, you will have noticed that it is becoming an increasingly common problem as the community here expands. such threads have had to be started in other areas of the boards for the same reason - to stop genuine queries and requests for help being lost amongst more relaxed and casual banter which is largely irrelevant to the topic under discussion at the time.
whilst it was originally intended to answer the more obscure and random customer queries
i have no probs with members of argos staff comparing their experiences of the company. i was thinking it would make quite an insightful read for your average customer, feel free to correct me if im wrong.cliffsgirl wrote:Argos is a crap store with crap incompetent management, and the head office and their stupid policies are even worse, I would rather eat my own head than shop in Argos.cliffsgirl wrote:I never said i take it out on the staff, i said the management are crap
when did management stop being staff? please lets not tar them all with the same brush - several people in this thread are or have been team leaders - if they were such ogres, im sure they wouldnt be so willing to spend their spare time here trying to help folk with argos related enquiries.cliffsgirl wrote:i know what i am talking about, i worked for argos for 10 years and the staff are fantastic they have to put up with all the stupid policies and rules that make their job much harder
couldnt agree more.
but you first post really surprises me - i would have thought that someone who has experience of working for the company would be more aware of the abuse we take on a daily basis, and therefore would not be so quick to dole it out - what with knowing what its like to be on the recieving end and all
but i digress. the message is simple - be nice to ALL moneysavers, regardless of whether they work for argos or not.
thank you please

..i love doing overstickers and inserts!! i only wish i could do them more but i'm an evening worker so i only get to do them really when we've got no customers (evenings are very short staffed all yr round) or if i get overtime during the day and i have nothing to do.
as for everything cliffsgirl said, our store's had 4 store managers and a load of other managers and stand-in managers (and its only been here 2 years!!) and i can definitely say that some management are great while others, i do agree, suck. it all depends on whether they care and want to be there i think (among other factors) but then isn't that just like the normal 15 hour a week staff?
i personally have experienced many 15 hour staff that just don't want to be there and think they know everything (usually because theyve been there years) and just dont care about anything or anyone. but then there's the other side -which i like to think i'm in - that does care about the customer and other staff.
..those are my thoughts on the matter anyway..!!0 -
So which store did you get sacked from?cliffsgirl wrote:why is this now a chat board for Argos staff, Argos is a crap store with crap incompetent management, and the head office and their stupid policies are even worse, I would rather eat my own head than shop in Argos.0 -

What makes you think I was sacked; people do leave Argos of their own accord you know. You must be an Argos employee who thinks its the best job in the world and could not imagine ever leaving, don't worry you'll learn quick enough.0

well youve obviously had some sort of bad experience with them if your slagging them off in the way that you are...
i like this pic btw haha

At first Argos was fine to work for, then changes in staffing levels and policies meant customer care became affected. We were then told we had to sell x amount of insurances and Argos cards a week, we had to really push the customers on this to the extent that we were told to give the customers the impression the Argos card was a loyalty card where they collected points when it was used, rather than a store card and we were not allowed to mention the interest rate unless the customer asked. We then got a couple of new managers who just wanted an easy life, if a customer wanted a refund and they were refused (for example on earrings when there was nothing wrong with them) the customers asked to speak to the manager and the manager used to say i can't be bothered just give them what they want.I grew tired of lying to customers and selling goods that had been used before, so i left to go to a company where both customers and staff are apperciated.0
