...but were afraid to ask thread
seeing as several other threads are at risk of going off topic, i thought i'd start a thread to give you a chance to pick our brains about the ins and outs of argos.
so if there is a burning question that you've always wanted to ask, post away and us argos peeps will try our best to enlighten you all
please note: anyone who takes that attitude that we are "fair game" because we "only work at argos" will be reported to abuse. sad to have to mention it in advance, but seems to be an increasingly common problem these days
please be nice to all moneysavers
now then, who's going to be first with a question? (my money's on Johntea

Question One
Where does one acquire a quality Argos style staff fleece
0 -
1) Dimensions Corporatewear, delivered via Bluefish!
2) The phrase "Quality Argos uniform" is an oxymoron.

Who?!
I thought of a serious question now anyway
Is there any way to find new additions to the catalogue? As they do put them on argos.co.uk but hidden away and in my store at least never bother updating the catalogue laminates!0 -
even the STAFF have difficulty getting hold of those fleeces

new additions - a good question, and i dont believe there is. stores are sent laminate inserts to stick into the store's browser catalogues. becuase these often contain new products/bundles, it always pays to check the in-store book before you buy.
they are also promoted in the sales flyers - i notice they do seem to be making more of a big thing of new lines that you wont find in the standard catalogue DISPOSABLE?!!!! 2 man tent anyone
:rotfl:
i have also recently discovered that we now have cd-rom versions of the catalogue for the blind/vision impaired - it describes the items etc apparently
i think this is a fab idea and would love to see it rolled out to all customers. or even a downloadable version where people could download updates and new products.
so, short answer, i dont think there is, however i will certainly suggest it at the next suitable meeting (whether anyone will listen or do anything remains to be seen :rotfl: )know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Technically its possible....

There is no way for the customer to find out directly but if you know a staff member with some inteligence, on the Store computer system its possible to create a report contatining just Current (i.e. this cat) NIC lines. NIC being Not In Catalogue. This report will contain every line that Argos has added since cat launch.... however they won't do it, just as they won't give RO lists out
Stores can also pull off a list of what inserts are supposed to be in place.
The usual way of downlining this to the customer is through sale brouchers, i.e. they bring in new lines for a reason; to sell them, no advertising no sale.
The main range that may not be advertised as much, is newer Video Games, as these come in at random depending on release dates etc. these rely more on the store displaying them.
i.e. today we had 2 new 360 games, and a PSP Giga Pack on its own minus games, with the PSP Giga Pack coming in when we already stock a bundle pack for £225 it will be interesting to see how thats priced.
Anyway i'm waffling

Haha, you would think they would get the main catalogue right before moving onto this, at least in a paper book they can send overstickers by the bucketload, going off this years cat, that cd must be a bit wrong

:rotfl: very true. i've often considered contacting head office to offer my services as a proof reader, because some of the gaffs are laughable.
in defence of the cd-rom, if it was an install version rather than run off the disc, you could download updates/amendments etc from the website.
i must admit, i do actually enjoy overstickering (much to my TLs amusement) and it pays well in overtime when there are hours going.
i didnt know about the RNC lines - i will look out for that on aura. will a mere mortal like i have access

Am I allowed to ask what new video games came in? And can staff buy them a little...early if you know what I mean

The PSP pack is a bit stupid isn't it, I don't think they're selling fast so why didn't they just split the bundles back down?! Mad (Plus no doubt Sony are planning the 2gb one soon)

Good question, its in the count system bit, you should be able to access that however you would probably have to create the report yourself (unless your store has bothered to make on already), and i'm not sure you could do that on a standard login, i've had management level for ages now so forget what you can/cant do on a level 5/7
I did overstickers the other week when there was absoloutly nothing else to do and there was an entrie catalogue page that needed doing on some garden furniture, every goddamn piece of text, you have to wonder what some people are paid for.... Overstickering is the most mindnumming job ever, however if its one of those slow days theres nothing better to pass the time
.
Anyway i'm taking this Off Topic now, but i think we ansered Johnteas question tho in far far to many words

I honestly can't remember, i just looked at them as they were unlocated stock, and threw them on the side, they were for the 360 tho, there was one PS2 game aswell which i think i heard one of the guys said was the new tomb raider game? i'm not upto speed these days on whats new at all.
Staff can't buy the games early, they are flagged on the system to stop both staff and customers buying them, there are ways around that, but i don't want to get sacked
.
The only thing to say about the PSP Giga Pack is that its currently on our system at £9999.99 which they tend to do with price sensitive items, so they might stock be starting a stock build for a weekly tactical.0
