Is it true about Ryan Air..

Read in the paper that they are now trying to say that as of next summer they will let you carry as much baggage as you can as long as you carry it to the plane when going and pick up once you arrive at the airport? Another stunt or what?

Likely to be mainly a stunt - it won't be allowed at any major UK airport for example.

But it's possible that it could happen at some out of the way airport where Ryanair operate one of the two daily flights. Even then I doubt it.

Thats gotta be a stunt...just think of all the charges they'd lose for additional baggage and there would be a hold with nothing in it!

No - the proposal is that you carry it out to the aircraft and they load it it into the hold there.

I have done that - but at minor airstrips with 6 seater aircraft, not real airfields with 737s

In that case it's a good proposition if it's free.

However what about people that have kids and pushchairs and can't carry the luggage? They'd have to rely on other people to help too...and then theres the safety issues. Our airport involves two flights of stairs for most gates...so it'd be ok for me, maybe not for people with kids or the elderly etc...

They still have to get their luggage from their transport to the check in desk in the current situation! You will find that people can be very resourceful when they need to be!

    Very true!

But what about the cases being scanned through security and liquids and stuff like that that your usually had in hold luggage but can't carry onto plane?

I can imagine the Stansteds, Manchestesr, Birminghams, East Midlands etc of the world being really thrilled that a good percentage of their passengers will now be needing their hold suitcases and hand baggage x-rayed at the secutiry gate. Would this even be allowed?

Can also imagine what the queues will be like at said security gates

Thank god Ryanair only fly to three destinations from Newcastle!

Dublin airport would be a nightmare at security if this did happen, although I reckon it is just a publicity stunt!

Don't imagine because it's difficult they won't do it. Up until a couple of years ago would you have thought about printing their own boarding card?

I love em, but I only travel with hand baggage and pay with my Electron Card,
I don't want to be first on the Plane or get an SMS to confirm whatever they hell it is or buy their Insurance, scratch cards, food, drink, train tickets or anything else. But I do want to continue to get flights for £1 all in.

Well they said you carry it after security point and well..I guess it would take away the so called "middle man" and they would save more from that perhaps then the the charging of the baggage fee?
I haven't taken R.A in a long time but I know others that do heh.
