does anyone have recommendations for a milkman in south manchester? we have been using diary crest (or express as was) for quite a few years but our milkman has been 'problematic'. apart from delivering at about 10am so it sits out all day, he's managed to knock over plant pots and break them and generally just be rude. he has also been cashing cheques and not updating the bill, so when a different person answered the door he would charge us twice for some weeks!! there are 5 of us living here and it's just so much easier to get it delivered (and we like the environmental benefit).
i've used the delivermilk website today to get any other names in this area, but would prefer a recommendation!!:happyhear0 -
50p a pint here in Bristol. I think that's good value, he delivers 5 days a week, and asked me how often I would like him to call to collect the money - weekly, fortnightly or monthly! I like not ever running out of milk, but my main reason for changing was that I was trying to cut down on the amount of packaging I throw away.Friday April 9th 2010 the day I become Mrs Jones!

Was that supposed to be 2 pints not litres?
Otherwise its very very cheap."Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."0 -

I have a milkman, I pay £6 for 2 weeks milk, I don't get anything else from him as I find it all too expensive

I got rid of my milkman years ago as it is so much cheaper to buy the supermarket milk.0

I have a milkman and have one pint of semi delivered everyday. He has been delivering for years around this area and must surely be due for retirement.
My husband insists we should stop buying the milk from him as it is dearer, but i like to know we always have enough milk when we want it and its nice to have a chat on a saturday morning when he comes to collect the money and i don't have to lug the milk home from the shops. He knows most our neighbours too and its nice to know there is someone you can trust to just keep an 'eye out' on the street.
However, it is dearer like my husband says, so when my milkman retires i may reconsider.0 -
Ours sacked us 2 months ago. He found it wasn't paying and being alone with twin 6yr olds he needed to bring in the pennies.
I now buy 12 pints a week in 6pt containers and decant into 2 pt bottles to fit into the fridge. We were paying £5.50 for 12 pts delivered and paid £3 yesterday (Mr T's offer). The milk keeps for this long.
I was hoping to keep him going as an early warning system for when we got old enough to have mobility problems!0
