Massive Tesco points loophole. Spend £27, get 6 bottles of wine & £36 Tesco Rewards

I bought this last week when weekly newsletter came out 18 bottles not many left on shelf ( Purley Extra store). They also had Budweiser at £9.27 for 10 300ml bottles, or 3 for £20 which works out at about £6.66 in addition to this this also had a extra 200 pts per case of 10. Therefore 600 extra pts x 4 if you use deals = £24.80 back in vouchers if you include Purchase price. 30 buds for £5.20 not bad
I can't see any mention of the extra points on the bud online? Is this deal still on?Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
It won't actually be possible to use the 900 extra points to Double Up to use on Wine as, although the double up deal is a permanent one it is only on the most recent (May) clubcard vouchers that the double up applies to Wine and Champagne and by the time people receive their clubcard vouchers the Double up on wine promotion will be over.
You will still be able to Double up on clothes and many other things but every time the vouchers come out there will be something different added to those - this time it was Wine and Champagne (as they knew everyone would go crazy for it so it is a good launch promotion) but by the time the next vouchers come out (August) there will be something different so unfortunatley no doubling up to get cheap wine then
Hope this clears it up and helps people (also that it's not already been mentioned).0 -
Thanks for this, we like 1,000's others missed the Torres but stocked up our Cellar (some call it the cupboard under the stairs) while the 25% off offer was on. We also used some of our Tesco Clubcard vouchers doubling them up. What with the 25% off, selected Offers and our vouchers we got £140 worth of wine for £45 worth of vouchers which were free anyway!!!!And then on top of that we got 5p per litre off our petrol for spending over £50 on store. It certainly pays to be loyal with Tesco.MSE_Archna wrote: »[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]
What's this about?[/title]
There’s a way to get six bottles of Torres wine for £27 (which is 25% off) and get 900 bonus Tesco clubcard points on top of the usual points – these can then be traded in for £36 of Tesco Rewards (or £18 of further Tesco Wine) which means you’re £9 up.
Important Update! 07 July 09. Loophole restocked, though not quite as good
In many stores the wine's sold out, unsurprising with over 300,000 viewing this thread in just a couple of days (see the Tesco swamped with MoneySavers news story) yet now it's restocking. However, the new deal isn't quite as good as you can no longer get 25% off six bottles or more, yet it still means buy a £6 bottle of wine and you get £6 in Rewards vouchers.
[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]How does it work?
[/title]
This is all about combining deals, Tesco has confirmed that they can be used in conjunction. The deals are as follows- Buy any 6+ bottles of wine before Sun 5 July, get 25% off (Update: now ended ignore in explanation below)
- Buy a bottle of Torres wine (red, white or rose) and get 150 bonus clubcard points
- Each 1 clubcard point while worth 1p in store can be swapped for 4p of Tesco Rewards.
The offer's is now available online, however 25% off is only available when you buy a case of wine rather than six bottles individually. So if you want to buy online you can have either the points or 25% off, not both. You can see a picture of the wine here (http://www.tesco.com/superstore/xpi/9/xpi50985589.htm).
There's an alternative deal on Marques de Monistrol Vintage Cava Brut bottles are 10.99 each but you get 300 bonus points per bottle. Meaning for an £11 bottle you get £12 worth of Rewards (thanks to MoneySaver m_will for this top spot) do note this Cava can be bought cheaper elsewhere though.
[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]What are Tesco Rewards?
[/title]
They used to be called Tesco Deals, and they can be used to buy days out, RAC membership, magazine subscriptions and more (see Tesco Rewards page).
While each clubcard point is worth a penny if used for instore shopping, and they’re sent out in vouchers of a minimum £1 each quarter. Convert them to Rewards vouchers and they’re worth four times the amount to spend on days out, magazine subscriptions, holidays, gifts, hotel rooms and more.
Obviously the 'loophole' element of this only works if you can use the vouchers for something you'd buy anyway. Otherwise its just a good deal... one other option is if you're a wine connoisseur you can instead trade in 1 point for 2p worth of “Double Up” vouchers (so £18 worth in total), which you can use on more Tesco Wine.
Read the Loyalty Point guide for a detailed explanation of Tesco Points Boosting and how to maximise it.
[title=http://images2.moneysavingexpert.com/images/dp/wtd_underline.gif]Further boost if you already have Tesco vouchers
[/title]
If you already have Tesco vouchers, then you can convert them into 'double up vouchers' and use that towards buying the wine in the first place. And you still get the extra points on top, as they're treated as cash.

This is a fun deal, but please drink sensibly... see Drink Aware for more info.

Is there a limit on the number of bottles you can buy?
I bought the last 6 bottles from my local Tesco store today and hope to buy more when they restock, but wonder if there is a point Tesco will say "no more"!0 -
Sijojekath,
I bought 146 bottles last week (mainly the cava), and they limited me to 6 of each bottle per trip (6 white, 6 rose etc). Though I just went and put my purchases in the car then went straight back in without any problem! If you are buying loads I would buy fairly sensible amounts at a time as when I first went in I emptied the shelves, and that caught the managers attention when I got to the till, raising the risk of being told 'no more'.

Had a Tesco Clubcard / Healthy Living mailing today and it reads "Double up is here to stay" including wine and champagne. So maybe still more cheap wine on the cards.

We also used some of our Tesco Clubcard vouchers doubling them up.
You can get four times the value on so many things I think it is a waste to use them for doubling up.
The wine offer sucks by the way - our local Tesco is quite a big one and it only keeps enough shelf space for 6 bottles of each of these wines, so you can guess how many of them are on shelf when I go in.You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -
It makes me want to cry when I hear people doing this

Of course it is silly to squander potential 4x deals value, but 'squander' was not the word for this one[using past tense because the 25% discount made it a Beef in Gravy A**Grade.]
The Bonus points plus 25% discount for 6 bots or more,[ended Sunday]exceeded the txn figure every time. When no 'real' money changed hands, it felt even better. To my mind, the 300 cava pts[£10.99] was better than 300 on 2 bots Torres[£11.98]before discounts, but still took a mix.
It's to the manager you should be griping about stock levels and I must say I saw plenty of stock allocation space in 5 Branches. For all our pleasure recorded in posts here, let's remember Mr T wants to sell the stuff. The reaction to this promo must be gratifying for them. Perhaps both sides are feeling gleeful on this one.
As noted with delight by msers[not least, moi:j], this one is up there with Beef in Gravy and Johnson's baby prod.s from last year.
My income is the State Pension and I make these things work FOR me.
Bus Pass has added to my non-petrol-conscious range of Mr Target T's.:D
Need it, given the way Mr T's petrol has stealthily mounted to £1.04...and nearest petrol Asda is 38 miles away.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
