Had a Tesco Clubcard / Healthy Living mailing today and it reads "Double up is here to stay" including wine and champagne. So maybe still more cheap wine on the cards.

    :j:rotfl::T

Yeah you will be able to use them to double on wine, as the double up on wine and champagne has now been extended until further notice. It's on the tesco website, in the clubcard section. (https://www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals)

It makes me want to cry when I hear people doing this :( You can get four times the value on so many things I think it is a waste to use them for doubling up.
The wine offer sucks by the way - our local Tesco is quite a big one and it only keeps enough shelf space for 6 bottles of each of these wines, so you can guess how many of them are on shelf when I go in.

    I cannot understand how this was not a good deal as I purchased 7 bottles of white Torres last week. I doubled up £15.00 to £30.00. Total cost £5.98 x 7 = £41.86 - 25% = £31.40.

I spent a total of 1.40 cash and accumalated 1050 points

So for £1.40 cash and 450 points I purchased 7 bottles.
Don't forget the points will be through in the next mailing in a little over two weeks so I will have all the points back anyway. I certainly don't agree they are points wasted.
I purchased a total of 28 bottles and will last for ages and 4329 points in total.

So you theoretically got your 7 bottles for £1.40 You have 1050 points left - worth £42.

If you'd have paid £31.40 cash, you'd still have had 2550 points left ...worth £102

So you saved £30 in cash, but lost £60 in vouchers. It's all horses for courses. If someone said to me "Wanna buy £60 voucher for £30", I'd probably do it. If, on the other hand, there was nothing I wanted the vouchers for and someone said "want me to take those off your hands for £30?" I'd probably take it.

Everyone seems to forget that you have not wasted £15.00 x 4 cc deals @ £60.00. On the next mailing I would gain back 1081 points for the 7 bottles worth £43.24 in deals.
Yes cost me £1.40 cash plus 419 (lost points) of cc x 4 cc deals @ £16.76
I think a small sacrifice to pay to stock up the wine cellar and great timing with the cc statement due in next few weeks.

Theres another point worth noting here...

with every deals brochure issued there are fewer and fewer 4x the value offers

I was saving up for something big, but I think i am too late. I doubt they will ever offer anything as valuable as MFI furniture or a car from motorpoint in the 4X section again.

I dont want a "cheap day out" so doubling up for wine is a compromise in my opinion!

ps I reckon goldsmiths the jewellers 4X offer will be pulled (or reduced value) next.

As Martin Lewis points out each 100 points is worth £3.60 in deals so in effect giving a 10% discount on the purchase.

MFI were on the rocky road to their demise and car supermarkets have slim margins. I can assure you Goldsmiths will be happy only giving a 10% discount with their margins.

I assume that the retailer is compensated by Tesco rewards up to the 3.6p per 1 point?

:j:rotfl::T cc points this quarter so far 14500
    (£580.00) in cc deals

You may be crying alone biglugs.
Of course it is silly to squander potential 4x deals value, but 'squander' was not the word for this one[using past tense because the 25% discount made it a Beef in Gravy A**Grade.]

The Bonus points plus 25% discount for 6 bots or more,[ended Sunday]exceeded the txn figure every time. When no 'real' money changed hands, it felt even better. To my mind, the 300 cava pts[£10.99] was better than 300 on 2 bots Torres[£11.98]before discounts, but still took a mix.

It's to the manager you should be griping about stock levels and I must say I saw plenty of stock allocation space in 5 Branches. For all our pleasure recorded in posts here, let's remember Mr T wants to sell the stuff. The reaction to this promo must be gratifying for them. Perhaps both sides are feeling gleeful on this one.

As noted with delight by msers[not least, moi:j], this one is up there with Beef in Gravy and Johnson's baby prod.s from last year.

My income is the State Pension and I make these things work FOR me.
Bus Pass has added to my non-petrol-conscious range of Mr Target T's.:D
Need it, given the way Mr T's petrol has stealthily mounted to £1.04...and nearest petrol Asda is 38 miles away.

Yes I had great fun last year with the Johnson Baby powder.
My wife thought I was barking mad and asked what the hell we were going to do with them all. It turned out the easiest item to sell at the car boot. Shifted the whole lot the same morning and got all our money back for the purchase and made all the points.
Not sure wether the Licencing Act will allow me to sell the wine at the car boot?

I think it depends whether you see your Clubcard point as extra income or as treat 'money'. I don't have kids, I can't afford to drive or go on holiday and I don't mind. My thing is a couple of glasses of wine in the evening or a couple of bottles with friends - I use survey vouchers, Clubcard points on double-up and 25% off to buy something I'd want to buy anyway.

I know I'm being thick but I fancy going to Tesco today to give it a go and can't quite work it out.

Does it work on any Torres wine?

Do you need to use a voucher to get the doubled up points or is it automatic?
