I understood that the national speed limit for cars on dual carriageways was 60mph?

  • I tested the time taken on my daily commute of 72 miles, between 70mph and 60mph.

I arrived 4 minutes later at 60mph than I did the day before, and considerably more chilled.

    That's my point.

yup i do a similar distance at around 55-60 (depending on what lorry im behind, saves me a massive amount in fuel, less car wear and im less stressed, barely takes me more than 10 mins to arrive

At least there will be no danger of me getting a ticket. A little known bit is that vans(not car derived) can only do 50mph on dual carriageways. A good catch for coppers.

You may still get a ticket, speed cameras and vans aren't infallible ;)

I'd have just dropped back a bit and let them get clear. I wouldn't want to draw attention to myself in case the idiots were a bit bored and had a bit of spare time on their hands.

Wrong I believe. 50 on a single carrigeway, 60 on a dual carrigeway (transit or luton type which I dont think are car derived).

thats all fair and well on your daily commute but when you use the roads for your work to get from various places around the country all day every day then those 4 minutes can all stack up and make a big difference to how the rest of your week pans out.
