  • Hi I've gone off the rails the last few months but really need to get back on track - Am aiming for £200 in July, have spent over £140 already but that includes enough formula and nappies till August and £20 spent on new bedclothes (which were desparately needed, it got to the point I was ashamed to peg our duvet cover and sheets out they were so bobbly and degrained!)

Hi everyone - should be a NSD for me today, I promise.:o This was definitely one of my downfalls last month, seemed to be popping to the shops most days so keeping it under control this month.

The Courgette Flatbreads went down really well last night with the Curry, a real hit so I shall definitely be making those again.;)

Only problem is that I've cut another couple of Courgettes this morning, I have 5 plants out there and they are cropping really heavily this year, checked out the Recipe list on the front page here and I have found a recipe for Courgette Fritters - thanks Kezlou - so I shall be making those to serve with tonights Sausage & Mash and some nice gravy - thought that as it's raining and a bit cooler the family will enjoy that.:D

Hope you all have a good day.;)

This thread just gets bigger and bigger.

I haven't been on since Friday, but I went shopping then and managed to spend less than £34. Well pleased with progress so far.

    £9.12 spent yesterday...

We've had an Ald! open in the last few weeks near me... I'm not sure I could do a full shop there but I'm loving the super 6! I just wish they had it all in stock at the same time - no peppers or bananas last night! :(

Is it just me or are several of the supermarkets doing fruit/veg around the 50p mark too? I got an aubergine 39p, peas 79p and living salad 49p on friday in L!dl! :T Even Mr S seem to have a few bits too (although than may just be my store to compete with the new Ald! across the road! :rotfl:

I should have enough in to last me till the weekend now though I may pop into Ald! to get some bananas if they are ever in stock as the nectarines are like rocks and will take a few days to ripen!

I have way too much in my cupboards/freezer (almost can't fit anything else in ) so I'm trying this month in cash to try to get my annual GC budget back on track and actually use some of it up. Its ~£10/week for fruit/veg/dairy and anything I run out of (£9.90 this week as thats what I had in my purse on Saturday)- so 78p left for the rest of the week!

    Must not go shopping,
    must not go shopping,
    must not go shopping... :rotfl:

PS I bought a chunk of parmesan yesterday. Can I cut it into lumps and freeze it for later grating or should I grate it then freeze? Actually does it cope with freezing at all? :rotfl: I was going to buy the "grated hard italian cheese" but a lump of proper parmesan was the same price/kg and I though it would be far nicer. It'll take me weeks/months to get through that much...

Went to Sainsbury last night for fruit etc - spent £34!

Lots of whoopsies - so currently have diced steak in my slow cooker which should do us two or three meals! I just cant help myself, but it was too good to leave! So was the other stuff that I bought, but on the bright side, I know I now have enough for lunches and dinners for the rest of the month, which I was slightly panicking about.

there is also shedloads of cereal which has been bought on special offer at various times, and lots of fruit, bread, rolls etc in the freezer.

I also had to buy things like yogurts for his packed lunches - which I have also frozen. That way he can take one out in the morning and put it in his lunchbox and stops him snacking from the fridge! :D

I bought a loaf of bread and some meat for sandwiches so am going to make them up and freeze them too......

QUESTION: the cashier charged me twice for a loaf of bread......is it worth going back and asking about it? I didnt notice till I got home, so how can I prove now I didnt buy two loaves?

    TIA

    Jo xx

    Hello All,

So far I'm doing quite well, even if I do say so myself! I do our weekly shopping on a Friday & last friday I spent £21.94! :T And it was our turn to buy dinner for our friends (we go to theirs & take it in turns to get pizzas or pud) so I was really chuffed with that.

It doesn't seem like I forgot anything either and I cooked up some tomato sauce which was the price of 3 tins of tomatos (I get whole toms as they're cheaper) and some cheap red onions (large-ish bag for 75p), already had the garlic & home grown basil! I made enough for 10 individual portions!

I also got some cheese spread, Mr T's own, for about 40p which was much much cheaper than the brand stuff I normally get. Plus it's quite nice, which is always a bonus! It's very very cheesy to so you only need a tiny bit. I have been having it on rice cakes for lunch at work - healthy & cheap! ;):p
