Hi, All Sorry to hear about your sad loss Casper. Hope you all had a nice weekend. Popped in to update my signature. Have spent another £10. Bought a carrot cake for the kids summer fare. (the original one I made I am using for the kids packs, because not fancy enough to be on show), £3-50 on lunch for myself and DD at Mr A (bit of a treat, as only the 2 of us), and just under £5 on barbeque stuff, as we went onto a BBQ . Today I thought I would be super MS, as taking DS3 to visit one of my friends, but will pop in MR A, as need petrol and get him a kids meal for £2 to eat there. Hope you all have a good day.:DGrocery challenge june £300/ £211-50.
Grocery challenge july £300/£134-85.0 -
Well the good news is that I have been looking at my receipt for my big Mr T shop and realised that DD3 clothes were on it as were DH batteries that he sneaked in when I was not looking! So actual spend was £105.07, which is rather better than the £135 I had thought.
I have also spent £10.01 in Mr T friday night on stuff I forgot when I did the big shop so total is £115.08 which is rather better than I thought.
Off to Mr M now to do a top up with my list of course.

Just been out to do some gardening before the rain comes - only did 45 mins light weeding but my back is killing me! Oh the joys of getting older!
Anyway, won't be going near the shops today as will be eating leftovers -yesterday had MIL to lunch and had a half leg of lamb with new potatoes, carrots, broccoli and courgettes. As usual I over catered on the veg so we are going to have the extras fried up with a couple of lonely sausages I found lurking in the bottom of the freezer! It will be an interesting meal! (I don't normally go "off piste" as it were and make up recipes but hey - let's live a bit dangerously!)
I have tiny bit of lamb left but if I pad it out with some lentils and onion I will be able to make a shepherds pie enough for just the two of us, so that's tomorrow's dinner taken care of.
It was cool enough to eat porage for breakfast today - my favourite and much cheaper than other types of cereal. I might even have another bowl for lunch!
Keep up the good work everyone.

Wow, the thread has grown, not had time to read al posts but hopefully later (if DS has a nap today!).
Been going ok, spent some money in Tesco last night but got some whoopsie bread/rolls/broccoli for tonights tea! Also yogs on offer for DH.
Hoping to keep to meal plan this week, as it really helps me stay on track.
Hope all are well and enjoying GC this month!

Assuming you're cooking for yourself, is there any chance of your housemates "chipping in" to cover ingredients if you did the cooking for them as well? Even if it's only a suggestion that worked a few days a week - and only until you start work - it could be worked so that you get your meal on those days free in return for doing the cooking
If you do suggest cooking for them, then best to have a 'grocery contribution' in mind first (so work out what meals you'd likely do, and calculate the costs) - and point out how much cheaper it is than take-aways, which would give them more money to spend on other things (I would imagine beer being a possibility if they're big into take-aways :rolleyes2 )
Yes - I can cook. I love cooking. My new housemates lead rather nomadic type existences though - ones a ODP (Operating Department Practitioner in a hospital) and the other is a med student. We're not often home at the same time, but that's a nice suggestion.

Morning all
Casper -so sorry to hear about your mum, sending you hugs...
Well folks we have another scorcher today  please let it cool down just a little...Im drinking enough water to float a boat in ....I swear if I move to quickly you can hear me sloshing like a water bed :rotfl:
I shouldn't need anything at all this week (famous last words) ....
Im fetching my first courgette off today -so Im going to saute a few onions then add the sliced courgette and a handfull of peas, a dollop of wholegrain mustard and a bit of marscapone I want to use (saving enough for more cream of tomato soup of course).... then Im going to slice some of yesterdays leftover roast pork into 2 gratin dishes and top with the courgette sauce, steam a few potatoes and have it with salad mmmmmmmmm
Hubby is playing cricket/hockey all day wed and thurs so tomorrow I want to make some baguette dough -Im using half to make him 2 12" pizza bases(he has requested pizzas for tea on those days as we don't know what time he will get in and they cook in the time it takes him to have his shower) -the other half of the dough I will make into baguettes..and I have some tortilla dough in the freezer -so his lunches those 2 days will be a mix of :-
feta, salad and tzatziki wraps
gyros wraps
roast pork salad baguettes -they will be nice and tasty and use lots of bits n bobs up out of the way
I have been very good and stashed a punnet of peaches, nectarines and a bag of apples in the "beer" fridge in the basement -to stop me eating them so quickly (I got them nice n firm so they would last) -so Im hoping to get beyond the weekend before I need anything... -that should pull the spending back into line .......only 19 days left of this month..so coming in under budget shouldn't be a problem -and we have allsorts in the fridge/freezer/cupboards -its salad and fruit that we seem to be getting through at an alarming rate -just wish the tomatoes outdoors would get a riggle on
Right off I go -have some more x-stitch to do :Thave a great day everyone:D-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Another £20 spent on Saturday on 15 cans of Ste11a for OH, half price in Sains at £7.49 and stuff for the picnic we had on Sunday. Spent a bit too much on the picnic stuff but it meant that we were out all day yesterday and didn't spend any money on drinks or ice creams etc. There is also enough left for one lunch and a snack for me.
We won't need anything else until the end of the week and I have about £84 left until the 27th but I want to spend less to claw back some of my £80 overspend in the first half of my annual budget, even if it is just 20 quid.
I have had a quick rummage in the freezer and there is enough stuff in there if I can get my rear into gear and make some meals to easily last us this week. This weather is making me lazy.:o

Hi all,
Spend so far this month is £30.83 - £10 was for the picnic/evening meal for myself & my 2 girls as we were at a car boot all day. Was well worth it as we made £22 profit after costs. ( did include cost of food as part of costs total sold was £42)
Having a no spend today - have enough in cupboards/freezer/fridge to do a chicken & brocolli risoto. And making bread for lunch tomorow.
Hope you are all having a good day"Life's like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get" Forest Gump0 -
