Casper - so sorry to hear about your Mum.
Just logged on to update my spends, feeling a bit more confident this month so fingers crossed.
Dinner tonight will be a Curry using the leftover Beef from last nights roast dinner and I will bulk it out with veggies.
Cut some courgettes from the Garden yesterday and made MRSMC's courgette muffins, have made them before and they always go down well with the family. Still have some courgettes left so planning to make Courgette Flatbreads, think they will go well with the Curry. Haven't got Nigella Seeds mentioned in the recipe so I think I will use Cumin seeds instead.;)
Have a good day everyone.:D"WASTE NOT, WANT NOT!"GC for OH, myself, DD18 & DD16 includes Toiletries, cleaning stuff & Food.

Ooh dear, my first month of budgeting and my partner and I aren't doing as well as I'd hoped and it's only 6th!
Budget set at £225. We spent £77 in Asda at start of month doing a big shop - all healthy good stuff, so I was very proud of us. And I'm even trying that 8 pence shower gel.
But since then, our cravings have taken over (and PMT!) and I've been to Sainsbury's twice to buy naughty rubbish (e.g. booze, crisps and chocolate) totalling £35!
And we had a kebab over the weekend so that's another £11 gone. Oh dear. Still got plenty of budget left, but at this rate we'll be waaaay over by the end of the month.
MUST.............TRY.................HARDER..........

I havent caught up with all of the thread - so apologies, but have just stopped in to say that my birthday has completely blown my budget - mostly because I bought the wine and stuff for the BBQ.
My July budget was £100 - so far I have spent £98.76
I doubt very much I will last till the 25th July without going over! :rotfl:
So Im off to mealplan with what I have and hopefully wont go too far over! I must go shopping tonight for fresh fruit, so it may be an Aldis trip for me and see what the Super 6 are!
have just spotted a link for the 50p a day thread, so will have a read of that. xxSometimes lurking, sometimes posting, but always flying

Just spent £19.86 in Heron and the cheapy freezer shop on groceries, which should hopefully last the two of us for the next week, along with £3 getting to town and back. Managed to pick up a couple of things to put away for my Christmas hampers though - a small pack of shortbread on offer for my boyfriend's parents, and a big jar of pickled jalapenos for my boyfriend's chilli hamper. Just need to find somewhere to hide them away so he doesn't see them nowD'you know, in 900 years of space and time, I've never met anyone who wasn't importantTaste The Rainbow :heartsmil0

Just spent £9.11 in Lidl and Tesco and got so much for my money! Mince, onions, potatoes, broccoli, mushrooms, pasta x 2, pesto, tom puree, bread, sausages, gravy granules, 4 tins of Branson baked beans for £1.11!
I caught the bus back, so I guess that should be £10.21, but heh!
Gonna do spag bol tonight (a friend is coming round and bringing wine), have sausages with onion and mushroom gravey tomorrow, make a stew the night after with any meet and veg left, my parents are here Thursday (hopefully I can blag dinner), pasta on Friday, beans on toast on Sat - unless there's enough spag bol tonight to free a portion. Sunday - ditto but with the stew.
I love a challenge!April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -
Hello, please can you put me down for a monthly budget of £200 for July. This is for 2 adults and covers all groceries, household items and toiletries. I'll be back later to update with what I've spent thus far once I've found my receipts. Many thanks.

Well I was supposed to go to Mr M but got side tracked into Waitrose!!!! Actually got a surprise that they were not as expensive as I thought - Charmin Rolls for £2.20, BOGOF on their own brand of washing liquid, reduced quiche, I managed to get palm hearts and coconut milk from there which I had been unable to get in my local supermarket - All in all I spent £22 which was not too bad - got some cleaning stuff half price too.

Went on my second shopping trip of the month yesterday - A!di again
Now have 4 NSDs to end of yesterday (against a best to date of 15 NSDs in May, and 12 last month)
I got
2 litres vanilla ice-cream @ 99p
loaf of bread @ 47p
3 bananas @ 49p/kg for 27p
4 large cheese topped bread rolls (fancied something different) @ 69p
Had planned to pick up a couple of the 1 litre semi-skimmed milks while there, but they didn't have any. Wasn't desperate for milk (had 1.5 in the fridge), so wasn't paying for the larger (and much dearer) bottles - which means I'll have to try again for it today/tomorrow.
But I'm in the city centre today (changing buses on the way back from elder GD's hospital appt), so will be checking out a discount store by the bus terminal.... and if I spend anything there I'll try for the milk later this afternoon, hence hopefully not losing another potential NSD tomorrow :rolleyes2Cheryl0 -

Sounds like you got some great bargains!
Okay heres a another recipe for you:- I do this in the slow cooker but you can just do it in a pan just add water to stop it from going dry. Use any veg you want, i just grab whatever i have to hand.
sausage casserole:-
8 sausages (veggie or meat) as many as you like
4 carrots
3 small onions,
hand-full of sweet corn,peas whichever
2 hand fulls of red lentils or brown lentils
1 1/4 pint of hot water with beef oxo in,
strips of cabbage
1/2 swede diced
2 parsnips chopped
I put all of the ingredients in the slow cooker and put onto low, i put it on about 8 am and its done by 5pm.
Dumplings:-
4 oz self raising flour
2 oz suet
pinch of salt
bit of water.
If wanted you could have dumplings with it mix ingredients together till dumpling like and drop them into the slow cooker for 30 mins.
Then serve, sometimes i do this with mash, veg as is or just bread. This makes two large meals or four smalls meals for a family of four.
Well spent another £25 on shopping grr hopefully the flour, butter and margarine will last till the end of the month but i seriously doubt it. Need to buy eggs but that should be it for the end of the week.
Oh in Lidl they are selling whole cucumbers for 39p and boxes of 32 walkers crisps for £2.99.0 -
Had a NSD yesterday & only need milk & bread today so not doing too bad. This weeks big shopping trip is tomorrow & I'm keeping it down as much as I can after last weeks blow out
With the weather being a bit cooler we're not going through so much salad although the kids are still devouring the ice cream
I made a lovely spicy lentil soup yesterday which should do for my & DH's lunches for a few days :T Very cheap to make too.0
