Ooh - I have, but not with me. I made them from a breadmaker recipe book last year and they were fab. Only thing was, though, the sugar glaze just evaporated away when I toasted them, so anyone with a better glaze, a proper sticky one, do let me know!
I used to adore co-op ones that were baked in-store and sold individually, nice and sweet on top. I'm trying to immitate those in my hot-cross bun making.
Will try and post the recipe tonight.0 -

If you really want a sticky glaze, use warmed apricot jam or honey (something yummy like a eucalyptus honey is even better). It won't burn quite as quick in the grill, but you still have to be very careful.
Personally I don't much like getting in a mess with sticky buns (oo-err) so I use an eggwash instead before baking. Either just straight egg, or egg with a little milk. That will give you a golden shiny top, without it being sticky and burning off when toasted.
The other option if you like them warm, is to either put them in a low oven/warming drawer for a short period, or ping them in the microwave for 30-60 seconds. You shouldn't burn the sugar that way.
Or, just thought, halve them before toasting (perhaps you already do?) and toast them with the tops downwards on foil, so you only crisp up the cut surface. That should stop the sugar burning off quickly.0 -
Last year I got a good HXBun recipe from Delia's website,if you put in Hot Cross Buns in the search box the recipe comes up.
You make the dough in the breadmaker and then form the buns by hand. The mix made 12 large buns, very tasty.0 -
What a coincidence - I was looking at this in Sainsburys Magazine (Easter 2005) last night, luckily on website so saves me typing it out!
Hope it helps:

I was going to post this request today, thinking about how hot cross buns from a bakery are always bigger and tastier than supermarket ones and that I should have a go at making my own. OH will be pleased when he gets home this weekend to a toasted hot cross bun!Debt Oct 2005: £32,692.94

sings: Hot Cross buns, hot cross buns, one apenny, two a penny, hot cross buns!!!
I've just taken my batch out of the oven and I am so proud of them - my crosses are wonky but they they smell wonderful and taste so much better than shop bought (and I am not a good cook at the best of times!)
Has any one else made their own hot cross buns today?0 -
Not yet, might make some tomorrow as a present for Mum & Dad.
My crosses always come out very chewy though. I've tried various different recipes and nothing seems to work properly. What's the secret to getting the crosses right?0 -
I made mine with flour and water (which I thought made glue! ) and then kind of dolloped / dribbled the crosses on using a spoon. The recipe said to put the mixture on using an icing bag but I haven't got one of those!0

I just cut a cross with a sharp knife on mine before baking.0

I bought mine from Tesco reduced to 19p for a packet of 60
