Over on Lose Weight 5 I explained what my consultant had said this week - she said to only use the free foods from the food optimisong booklet for a quicker weight loss - I'm going to try it this week so will let you know if it really works.
CM - Just to check, and for others who are non-SW would you be able to give a typical "free" day
Ie - are you planning on only eating fruit, veg, eggs for this week. What sort of meals would you be planning? I ask because as I said I have only one more weigh in before my hols and would love a final boost to the weight loss before I go? If its not too hard to meal plan I might join you0 -
Cots, I too have only one more weigh in before my hols, where are you going?
Ref the free food - you still need to have your healthy a and healthy bs but only eat free foods stated in the food optimising book or on the website under "eat and slim", "free foods". i.e. although mullerlights are free, give them a miss for a week etc.
I hope I've explained that well enough, if not give us a shout and I'll try harder!I haven't got one!0 -
Lordy. You step away from the computer for a little while and come back and everything has changed.
Just ate half of the lemon chickpea cake. Very nice indeed and only like 3.5 sins for the whole thing. Really pleased so thanks to Cheekymole for the recipe again! will be buying more chickpeas!
On the subject of free food to optimise i would agree with that. I tend to stick to free foods and only have syns if i need them for the recipes. It's not that hard to do so as so much quorn stuff is free. Also the success express principle is to basically have more superfree type foods than the other free food such as potatoes and pasta.
I stuffed myself with quorn mince, beans, broccoli, cabbage and all the other speedy free foods and decreased my potato and pasta portions and found it very successful. I don't plan to do it every week as i looooove pasta and chips but i figured i'll do it everytime i need a boost.
I think the basic theory to why it works is the speedy free foods are extra low energy density foods and some are so low in calories that you may use up more calories preparing, cooking and eating them than are contained in the food!
Went to aqua-aerobics for the first time last night and rather enjoyed it. I'm aching all over today though (helped by the fact i was doing lots of lifting and stuff on sunday) so it's definately making my muscles work.
Well done on losses all. Hello to new losers.0 -
Glad you like it Jeni.
I have a sponge recipe to post later.
I've also just remembered a yummy veggie recipe which I promise to dig out for all you veggies (syn free if I remember rightly)
I do have a fave recipe which is v. quick and easy.
Smash buttery flat on a plate. Pour over a tin of spagetti hoops sprinkle with 42g half fat cheddar and grill until it bubbles and browns. It really is yummy and filling and only uses 1 a or b, the rest is free. Go on try it, takes 5 minutes and dead fillingI haven't got one!0 -

I would be grateful if people could post any fave SW vegetarian recipes (nothing tooo adventurous) and even better if they are nice famly recipies that the kids will eat!!
hi - i saw Gordon Ramsey make brocolli soup - he basically boiled up the veggies, then blended them (including the water used) and made a really nice soup -
i made it and liked it, but my hubby thought it was a bit 'flat' so the next one i made was with a stock cube (i weight watchers point)
good for before meals to fill you up
also - if you sign up to the weight watchers website (free) you can go on the boards and get low cal receipesWillow: I knew it, I knew it, well not in the sense of having the slightest idea, but I knew there was something I didn't know!0 -

Don't forget ......................if you are buying Quorn regulary, you can send off your receipts and get a £3 voucher off next products. I can't find anywhere in the T&C's that says its only once per household, so looks like as long as you buy the products you'll get a refund voucher.
https://www.quornforlife.co.uk
Says you have to purchase 6 products in one calandar month and send in till receipts.
Sent mine off yesterday, so will wait and see what happens.
