Nenen wrote:It sounds good Cheekymole... thanks for posting it. Mind you I have a real aversion to artificial sweeteners... I hate the taste of aspartamene etc (I am one of the unfortunate people who have a great sensitivity to it and get an awful aftertaste from it) and just hate putting all the chemicals in my body all the time. What I did with the lemon chickpea recipe you posted (and am not sure if it would work with the sponge cake) is to replace the 1.5 cups of sweetener with half cup of fructose (natural fruit sugar that is twice as sweet as normal sugar so although it has the same number of calories per gram you can use much less) and added a cup of porridge oats to lower glycemic index still further and ensure mixture wasn't too runny due to lack of dry sweetener. It worked really well but obviously increases the calories/syns a bit. Has anyone got any other alternatives to using artificial sweeteners?
Same here, but have you tried splenda, thats ok as its made from sugar.
Hi everyone, I have been doing WW for nearly a year and am nearly at goal now, although think I would still like to lose a little more, so far i have lost 3 stone 4lbs approx.
Done it mostly on NO count plan.Pawpurrs x0 -
Hi Pawpurrs, what an excellent weight loss, well done.
Welcome along to all you new people, good luck with your targets and aims.
Nenen, I strongly recommend you try the sponge, it WAS made with splenda
Reference starting a thread on the OS board would any body be offended if I go and ask as I think it would be a good idea too.
I won't do anything until tomorrow just in case one of you has already pleaded.
Good luck with this week, weigh-ins start tomorrow...I haven't got one!0 -
Ugh. Have to go to a VERY long meeting today which involves customers. There will be a nasty buffet lunch to accompany it of course and it's not going to possible for me to excuse myself and go eat elsewhere.
I'll have to eat something so that my tummy doesn't rumble throughout the afternoon meeting so let's all keep our fingers crossed that i can bypass the icky sandwiches and to the fruit bowl (if they provide one!).
I woulda made lunch but it'd look weird if i pulled out a packed lunch! I've tried to eat as much fruit and stuff this morning so that i'll be in good stead. I guess i'm just lucky that i don't have to go to many of these.
Good luck today everyone0 -
Welcome Pawpurrs -well done on the great weight loss so far - I'm sure you feel great for it.
Cheekymole - work away and ask at OS about the recipe thread - I'm over there a fair bit, although recently I've mainly only been on here - There have been a few SW/WW threads started over there and they often get redirected by the board guide to here. Worth a try though & Thanks for volunteering.0 -
Jenni - Thats a good idea to stock up on fruit etc before you go. Can you bring a banana/apple with you to munch at - even nip outside to have it. I was at a workng lunch a few weeks back and did just that.It was a 3 course meal so I had only 2, but stuck to melon for starter and the best main course available to fit in around my SW plan.
Good Luck - you sound like you are determined enough not to let today knock you off track.
Happy Monday to everyone - good luck with the weigh ins.0 -
Hi Cheekymole-Thanks for syn value.I'd better slow down.
Thanks Lydia.42-I'll try that recipe.I'll also use it on pasta.
Hello Loopylass30-Thanks for the two recipes. Also the tip about using dried herbs.I usually find that I can only get certain fresh herbs-they've always sold out of the one I need!
Thank you all for the great tips.0 -
Thanks Honey 28-I'll have to be careful as i think I use up my sins on figs and wine! Still I'm going to try it.
Thanks also Money_Man_Steve-I love beetrot but it doesn't feel like a replacement to chocolate to me! Even the beetroot in sweet vinegar hasn't the same satisfaction. I like the idea of fat free yoghurt, vanilla essence and sweetner.0 -

OK...
I've started a "Weight Watching Recipe Collection" thread over on Old Style. As a collection it's for recipes ONLY and I hope you will all continue to come here for the great support and advice you give each other.
As has been said - browse around, because there are lots of good recipes that you can use or adapt, you'll just have to work out the points for yourself; but it's mainly healthy cooking so you're on a winner anyway

Hello everyone. Is it ok to join you? I have hit the piont where I really need to loose some weight. Clothes don't fit, getting more breathless if I have to climb lots of stairs etc.
I don't go to a diet club (due to time and cost), but would love some supportive people to talk to and to support in return.
I am 10st 7 lb and at just 5'3" its too heavy for me. I would like to get down to 9 st 2lb.0
