Hi dihunny - could you make a tomato based dip? Just dry fry garlic and onions, grill/roast some peppers and chop, then add all with herbs to chopped tomatoes and cook for 20-30 mins?? We make a really nice free pasta sauce this way. I'm sure you could simmer for a bit longer to reduce the sauce to the consistency you wanted for dipping. We sometimes add chilli to it too for a little extra bite. Bit like the dorito's dip things you get, but cheaper to make.

Good morning everyone. Well bad night last night - OH and i had a 'night off' as we had been good all week. 2 bacardi brrezers, 2 pints and a curry later, and this morning big regrets!!!!! Didn't enjoy it as much as usual, and felt terrible this morning. Not a hang-over, as i don't get them, but bloated, tired and bad heart burn all night.
We talked this morning about how we both felt so much better this week, without the junk food and alcohol.
Result - we got up and went for 40 min walk. Then had low fat sausage and scrambled eggs for brekkie - red day today.
So back on track. And not doing my usual thing of thinking.......oh well, i've blown it now, may as well eat what i like. Have already decided what we are having for lunch, and are planning tonights dinner too. All free to help reduce damage done by last night!!!!

You can also make a garlic and herb 1 the same way just crush some garlic into the fromage frais...enough for your taste, and some parsley, salt n petter 2 season.
I used dried herb instead of the fresh ones above and still tasted fine

Another quick dip recipe is to add a packet of dried french onion soup (as much as personal preference) to a tub of low fat fromage frais. Stir in gently.

Pre SW days I used to make this with a carton of soured cream but formage frais works just as well. Tesco do a "soup in a mug" french onion flavour. One of these sachets is 2 1/2 syns.
Its quick and easy to make.

    Hi
I just made cheekymole's lemon chickpea cake and it was delicious! :j I'm really trying hard to try new recipes that will make me feel good about my eating and hopefully not feel deprived (biggest likelyhood of a binge if I do)! I think that lots of you have posted some great recipes but i have real trouble finding them when i want them. Does anyone know of a thread or place devoted entirely to recipes good for slimmers? I've tried various searches and get a confusing array of answers all mixed in with loads of other posts!
Alternatively could we start a thread just for slimming recipes?

Nenen, you should also try the sponge cake that I posted a few days ago?

If we talked nicely to the people over on the Old Style board, maybe someone like Cotsvale could help get the slimming recipes added over there, flagged up as suitable for those trying to lose weight?

And to those new folk despairing of how much they've got to lose (I think it was Nenen and Tesscha), I find walking is the way to go! I've been 'stuck' for a long while but now the weather is better I've been walking more, and hey presto the weight is slowly disappearing again. Food wise I haven't really changed what I've been eating, so it does seem to be the 'move more' part of 'eat less and move more' which is most important for me!

Thanks for the link cheekymole! I had the SW chips tonight whilst my OH and my SIL tucked into chippy shop chips, they had steak, poached egg (my suggestion as opposed to fried!) and tinned plum tomates, I didnt have the steak but had quorn sausages so was pretty chuffed with myself!! :j

The chips were nice, think I will have to do them again!

I am not really sure how I am doing as I am just mainly trying to eat free foods everyday (on green) as I really not got a proper plan made out yet.... I had a chinese takeaway last night  but had plain boiled rice and fried tofu with mixed veg, so I guess the oil it was cooked in was the syns I had :o It was a also my lil boys bday so i munched the odd cheese football crisps but resisted the cakes so thought I have done quite well being moderate on what could have potentially been a bad weekend!!

I am feeling better in myself and not so bloated but I guess the proof of the pie is in the eating as they say so will see what my next weeks weigh in is!!

I will say that my biggest weakness is the cheeky glasses of wine or 3 that I have... but i am working on that one........

I think that sounds like a great idea... are you volunteering to do the nice talking SavvySue??? :D
I'm so new to this site I'm not quite sure how it all works yet... I feel like an 11 year old starting in a big comprehensive school feeling like I will never find my way round and might get lost in a time warp within these walls!
So, for those of you that know the way round... could we then post recipe ideas here as part of our ongoing chat and motivational help but have them posted just as a list of recipes there too? The recipes on slimming world and sainsburys sites which have already been mentioned here (plus the bbc site which I also use) are GREAT but there's nothing like chatting about our own personal recommendations and adaptations to motivate me! I suppose I could always create a Word document and copy and paste each recipe as it appears... mind you I'd have to go back to all the previous weight loss threads to make sure I haven't missed any! I may be gone sometime! ;)
